Hi

Lodging this here in case it helps anyone in the future, the problem was solved.

Our 2017 Boxer van failed its MOT due to an airbag light and the diagnostics read B0118 Incorrect Configuration.
The airbag light has been on since the conversion and we were assured that it would be an easy fix to get it turned off but we never bothered until the MOT failure.

We had obtained a drivers seat from a LHD vehicle and had it installed instead of the double passenger seat. There is an electrical connector on the seat and a matching connector on the floor and so these were connected up. That turned out to be the problem. The old double seat has no electrics and so when the connection was made the van saw an incorrect configuration. I disconnected the connector and all was well again, after a proxi align.

This cost me a lot of money in diagnostics and was a simple error. I hope this helps somebody else avoid the expense!

Thanks Martin, yes it's getting to be a common problem but not always an easy fix like yours ,( couple of wires). Surprised you had to have a proxi alignment though as this is usually required for new ecu replacement units.basically to replicate your existing system.

I think we only needed the proxi align because of the previous attempts to fix the problem!

Exactly the same has happened to me with a 2021 Ducato Shadow Edition that we have just converted. No electrics on original double seat. Plugged in the appealing yellow on the replacement swivel led to an airbag warning light. Disconnecting the yellow connector returned us to normal behaviour from the airbag light.

Thanks for posting... Nice and simple. Saved us a lot of time and money pursuing other solutions.
