Hello you knowledgeable people. I had my Chausson motorhome two year service and ha b check carried out by an AWS approved workshop that I was recommended to by another Chausson owner. The hab check found damp in a back corner so I booked it in under warranty only to be told that my warranty will be void because the check was not done by one of their approved workshops. They want me to have another check done by them before doing repairs.
Anyone had this and any advice please.
Thanks Pete.

Guess it depends on what Chausson's warranty documentation stipulates.

Does it say an approved Chausson network outlet or a wider industry approved network, eg AWS?

I was led to understand that the annual 'hab service' must be carried out by an approved Chausson dealer, in order to maintain the warranty.

When our AT was under habitation warranty they accepted an AWS inspection but I THINK some other convertors didn't hence previous response.

I think you may have to follow Chausson’s advice if you want their help. Was the advice you were given about the warranty being invalid from a dealer or from Chausson direct? Some dealers are notoriously reluctant to take on any warranty work if they did not sell the motorhome in the first place. They may also be miffed that you got the water ingress check done elsewhere, presumably cheaper.

As said above by Gellyneck have a look at your warranty documentation to see what that says. I think of hab checks and water ingress checks as different things. The first usually relates to items that have a limited warranty and the second to the longer term warranty matter of dampness.

I don’t doubt that some AWS workshops are Chausson approved but that doesn’t necessarily mean Chausson has approved all AWS workshops, though it seems some brands do.

Chausson are not on the approved list for AWS habitation on Motorhomes so in effect you will be fortunate that they will do a new inspection and maintain the warranty.
The list of makers accepted is below. 👍

Not unusual, if the dealer is to do the repair under warranty they will want to do their own damp check so they can claim from Chausson. If the warranty is reliant on you having an annual check by an authorised dealer or service agent and the one you used was not and therefore you missed previous checks then your warranty is probably null and void.

I was just about to say the same. The poster should have checked the list of manufacturers that gave an agreement with the AWS.
