Awning or Canopy?

Probably an age old question, so please forgive me or tell me where to go. So is my canopy that winds out classed as an awning?

Technically it's a canopy. Commonly referred to as an awning but an awning is really a sided enclosure that can be added on to a caravan or motorhome, very often seen for sale in the classifieds here
