Just wondering how much gas you guys go through per day or week in the UK in winter ?
That is for running heating, fridge, cooking and hot water.
I assume that heating takes the most ?
Thanks in advance.

We were away for 4 nights over the new year with no hookup so just gas which was full to start.
Just topped up the gaslow which took £13 - £3.25 a day, that's heating, cooking, fridge and hot water for showers and washing up.
Cheaper than being at home with the heating on!

How many litres is £13 worth as I am unfamiliar with refillable systems ?

So just over 1kg per day.
I wonder roughly how much of that is showers ?

Depends entirely on what you set your thermostat at and how long for.

Well we have an Alde system and as the heating was on anyway it heats up the hot water at the same time.

In my van, in winter, the hot water tank is 20 liters and takes about 1 hour to heat from cold (about 5c to 75c).
20 liters will do two showers at a pinch.
I'd guess for hot water you may be heating upto 40 liters per day in winter.
So even if you said that was 0.5kg of gas per day I think you would have it covered.

There would be a few other factors. Is the heating Alde or Truma? Is the refrigerator run on gas and how big is it?

We have an A Class motorhome, 8.5mt long with Alde heating and a big refrigerator. In the winter with minus daytime temperatures and two shower a day with washing up once a day uses 1x11 kg Gaslow cylinder which equates to about 20 litres of LPG. The last few times I have filled up at Morrison's, Crewe, LPG has been 79.4p per litre. So that is 15.88 for 5 days.

Like every ture geek I keep a spreadsheet for such things and over 2022 the average cost of LPG per night was 1.13.

We usually average about 1kg per day, fridge, cooker, heating, hot water. Pretty much the same in summer as the fridge uses mire and the heating less.

I reckon a 6.5kg bottle lasts us four days in winter, it's the battery I worry about as the Truma uses a fair amount of electricity. We have solar but it's pretty much useless at this time of year.

I have Truma blown air heating and took note of what the fan uses via my Victron Smart Shunt over last weekend.
My fan on full, fan setting number 5, uses 0.85 amps per hour, on number 4 it uses 0.55 amps an hour and on number 3 fan setting it uses 0.25 amps per hour.

5.9m coach built with the cab screened off from the hab with a thermal screen.
Truma heating at about 16-18c in the day and 12-13c at night.
Small Dometic 3 way fridge/freezer (small freezer compartment) on gas running at about 5c.
Washing up once a day.
No showering.
I'm "guestimating" 0.5-0.75 kg per day ?

I'm asking as I'm using 6kg Calor bottles at £6 per kg and wondering if the cost saving per kg of LPG is worth it for me to have ?
I only have maybe 2-3 nights away per month from November to April mostly not on sites, pub stops etc and no showering.
May to October I probably have about 50-60 nights away but use very little heating and am on sites so use their showers so gas use is fridge and hot water and I get at least 3 weeks from one 6kg calor then.

Blimey that is a lot, iur Truma boiler is only 10 lt and we can do 2 showers easy with that.

That doesn't mean a lot as the fan speed will vary with the temperature of the van. If it's cold and the heating is running full blast the Combi takes 5 to 6 amps.

Those figures were with the heating already running but it doesn't take long for my small van to reach temperature.
I have spoken to Truma as I was concerned how many amps the fan would use and after giving them the model number and serial number they told me that max fan amp draw on my system is about 1.5 amps.
0.85 amps was the highest figure I saw last weekend and was only a few minutes after putting the heating on.
My Truma system is 2005 vintage.

headlight I thought your figures were very low so I looked up your van and you don't have a Combi. With a Combi you are probably looking at 10 - 15 ah a day as at minimum fan speed they draw about 1 amp.
I don't think any vans use that type of heater anymore only caravans.

Yes you are correct it's not a combi.
I had 2 nights away last weekend and used a grand total of 7 amps one day and 10 amps the other.
That's total usage not just the heating fan.
The Victron shunt, when I looked at the app, told me that at present drain I had 10 days power remaining.
And there was me worrying whether my 2 x 100 amp batteries would cope 😂

I would think that 2Kg/4L per day for LPG should ensure sufficient for a hot van, hot water and a cold fridge/freezer. OH loves our spacious fridge/freezer but it's a thirsty blighter.

We took delivery of our 8.9m Kontiki just before Christmas. Went away for 5 days over new year it was baltic cold outside, I ran my first 11kg gaslow empty in 3 days so maybe im using the heating wrong? The worst part is I only have room for an 11 and a 6kg so nervous times to get through the next night. Alde heating is nice but appears to cost way more to run that my old autotrail "heater on the wall" type

When I was away the weekend before last I had to change Calor bottles.
The full 6kg bottle weighed 15kgs.
When I got home I weighed the bottle and it weighed 14.4kg.
So I used 0.6kg of gas in a 24 hour period.
That's fridge on gas, Truma heating on gas but only on a low setting a bit of hot water and a few kettles of water for coffee, no showering.

That is very low, in summer we use more than that. Our fridge gobbles 1 lt a day.

Yes I was surprised.
The bottle was weighed on my bathroom scales both when full and when I got home.
The scales could be out a bit but I certainly used well under 1kg.
The fridge is a small Dometic 3 way with a tiny freezer compartment and was initially cooled down by placing 4x1 litre of frozen milk in it when we set off.

I'm away for 3 nights this weekend and will see how much gas I use over the 3 days.

Our fridge is 160Lt Fridge/freezer and it uses more gas since I fitted an internal fan, a small price for cold beer.

No idea how many litres my fridge/freezer is but you know the size of the old small Dometic 3 way.
Just googled it and it looks to be 46 litres, 30 litres fridge and 16 litres freezer so a good bit smaller than yours.
I put 12 cans in it which it managed to keep cold even when it was 38c outside last summer.
Good enough for me 😉

You're lucky. I'm not allowed beer in the fridge it's solely for food and swmbos white wine. I have a separate compressor coldbox in the garage for beer and only chill my red wine if its very hot.

Beer takes priority in our fridge, it helps that I do the cooking so my choice, beer or food.

Same here although I do allow a 2 litre lemonade for Mrs headlight's gin 🤣
12 lagers fit in the bottom of the fridge leaving 2 shelves and the fridge door for non essentials such as food.

Use ice cubes in the gin then there will be more room for essentials like beer.
