I have looked through spec of new Motorhome but can’t seem to ascertain detailed electrical spec I.e.

  1. is it MPPT
  2. b2b or VSR
  3. battery details, I am assuming BMS but not heating
  4. space to put additional battery, do they have to be same size
  5. ability to retrofit b2b and inverter (dependent on answer to 2 and 4

Anyone know

Regards,

BOOMEL

If you could give the age and engine size etc, more information will get more replies
MPPT how many solar panels do you have and hab battery amps, depending again on the age older more likely to be VSR newer with higher spec B2B for some, when you state BMS hab batteries start out providing the basics lights, water pump, 12 volt fan for the blown air, as models improve power for tv sat systems, pump for wet heating systems later again compressor fridges,(battery hungry) to run an inverter of any substantial size need toe or more batteries and a means to replace the amps used (solar B2B EHU)as I said age model engine size will help.

Very few converters fit MPPT solar controllers so safe to assume it will be a PWM type.

VSR's are not normally fitted to motorhomes, I think you mean a split charge relay. If it has a smart alternator it should have a B2B but not all converters fit them.

If adding a second battery they do not need to be the same size just the same type.

Generally easy to fit a B2B and inverter to any van.

Very sorry missed. New Autosleeper Nueovo EK 2023 model.

A 2023 model should have a smart alternator, and in that case it needs a B2B to keep the leisure battery charged. A split charge relay or VSR won't be good enough. Note that a B2B is also called a Charge Booster, or DC-DC Charger.

It will only have a BMS and possibly heating if the battery is a lithium type. Lead-acid types, including AGM and Gel, don't need them.
