Willing to be corrected on this but, Fiats from 2006 - 2019 will almost certainly be Conformatic. We have the true torque converter box on our 2003 Laika but I think they were discontinued early 2006.
Yes, would t mind one myself. Just missed a low mileage left hooker tooI wasn't aware of that but ours is LHDView attachment 832167
It's lovely to drive. I'll be sad to part with it. The box is 4-speed and for the life of me I don't know what the advantage of a 9-speed auto might be. A couple of years back I had a Merc coupé as a courtesy car with I think a 7-speed box, but it was a horrible gutless ride.Yes, would t mind one myself. Just missed a low mileage left hooker too

It enables the manufacturer to tune the engine to provide appropriate output within a very narrow rev range, with the objective of achieving the best mpg and lower emissions. The box is 4-speed and for the life of me I don't know what the advantage of a 9-speed auto might be.
You'll maybe have more idea than me on this Spriddler, but am I remembering correctly that when the likes of Barry Sheene was racing two strokes back in the early 70's, because of the narrow power band, some of the bikes had around 12 to 16 gears ?It enables the manufacturer to tune the engine to provide appropriate output within a very narrow rev range, with the objective of achieving the best mpg and lower emissions.
Yes, you're quite right. Two-smoke engines have very little torque and rely on revs for power (17bhp at typically 13,000 to 16,000rpm). I well remember that from the 60's when I was scrambling a 250cc Greeves 'Starmaker'.You'll maybe have more idea than me on this Spriddler, but am I remembering correctly that when the likes of Barry Sheene was racing two strokes back in the early 70's, because of the narrow power band, some of the bikes had around 12 to 16 gears ?
