I along with quite a few other members had issues with the Sargent EM40 fusebox burning out when the fridge was on vehicle battery when driving. Mine went when touring Southern Ireland and I replaced it with the Apuljack version.
Auto Trail have now started recalling vehicles to install the EM42 box and taking out the EM40, mine being one of them so I wrote to Auto Trail a couple of weeks ago and explained I had paid out for the Apuljack as I felt that the EM40 was dangerous and wouldn't put it back in my van. I have received the following response so they have finally listened:

Firstly, thank you for writing to Auto-Trail direct.
With reference to the recall campaign to replace your EM40 or EM55, we hope that arrangements have been made or this has already been replaced. If this is not the case, we have started receiving regular supply of replacement units and we should soon have one with your proposed repairer.

If you have had an alternative aftermarket unit fitted, we would strongly suggest that the recall is still undertaken, that way we know that what you have fitted has been through all testing to ensure that you do not suffer any further issue.

As a Goodwill gesture for the inconvenience caused, we would like to offer a discretionary payment of £100 if you would like to accept this, please provide us with you bank details - Account Name - Sort Code and Account number. Once we have received this, we will present this to our Management team for final approval.

We hope this meets with your approval and look forward to hearing from you shortly.

So I will take them up on the offer of the new EM42 and the £100. I will keep the Apuljack as a spare as it only took 20 mins to fit. If you have done similar I would write to them and explain what you have had to do because of a part that wasn't fit for purpose and at least get something back and a new EM42.
