I honestly think satellite tv has had it's day to be honest. Mobile data and a firestick and you can stream any tv you want

Except when the phone signal is weak or non existent , plenty of places where the mobile network is pants

Just back from Brugge , couldn’t get a stable enough connection to watch live TV without buffering
And I manually changed networks

Had both a Oyster Satellite Dish and Truma AirCon fitted on the same day. Keen prices and excellent job.

Starlink but its expensive but works a treat, £85 a month and you can stop and start when needed once you have the hardware that is which at present they are doing refurbished for £199. Just used this setup for the last 3 weeks in southern Spain with no issues, my usage for the total trip was 204GB (y)

its £199 if you want the refurb which is essentially new anyway and its hardware there is no software, the only thing that makes it work for me is the fact you can stop and start but we each have our own requirements and its not for everyone.
Our French friends on the same site as we were on used a satellite dish but they mentioned it needs to be at least 1.2m in size to get anything decent that far down South. I have no clue about this but just passing on what they told me, good luck anyway.

There are no ongoing costs with my satellite dish although I guess it will eventually need a repair or replacement.

Everyone seems happy to pay for things on a subscription basis these days. A couple of posts above £85 per month is mentioned. That seems astronomical to me.

it is astronomical but for unlimited internet when abroad and then can stop it when not in use is the only reason i am using it, none of the UK mobile operators will give unlimited internet whilst in Europe, all have a fair use policy but it really does depend on how you use it. As mentioned everyone's needs will be different but there are options including satellite.

Indeed and to me.

But using local sim cards often works where UK ones do not. I am still to find the elusive campsite myself where our roof antenna mounted wifi failed to give enough performance for streaming tv. Even Sandringham, ie, North Norfolk on New years we had acceptable internet for our 4 day stay, plenty good enough for (2) devices to even stream at same time, and the campsite was totally full, not a single hardstanding available.

We did use 200Gb in our 10 day Chrismas motorhome break and was glad of the unlimited 3 sim though! Starlink is more per MONTH than my unlimited UK 3 contract is per year ;).
When we do get across to europe this year we will be using a local French free sim and just buy by the hundreds of Gb. (We would lower the quality on the firetv settings if we were on a low data contract!).

I had a 85cm maxview dustbin lid on our van for 8 year and got uk tv with an icecrypt box all over Europe.
Now having a better dish fitted on new van.
