Due a change of plans , we have to find a place to stop for a couple of nights, December 24 & 25. I don’t think
pubs etc will be of any use as we will be eating/drinking with family.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Happy Christmas and New year.

I know its a pub stop but how about Carr Mill Dam just down the road so to speak or up on Billinge Hill or Aston Market you could try there its free to use

There is a huge industrial estate by the Three sisters park. A few years ago a guy parked and lived there in a van for about 6 months. It was a spot by the gate to the park. I think it might be safe at that time of year but you'd have to judge it yourself. 10 minute walk into town.

Just put it on Ashton news forum for you so might have suggestions soon.

Got several replies on Ashton forum. A few say Ashton market but I wouldn't as you'll get drunks banging on door. A woman from Nicole Mere drive has offered to let you park in her drive if you are quiet. I've got her phone number if you pm me. Other suggestions are The Caledonia pub. There is a big car park outside Toolstation opposite Edward arrowsmith school. Barriers never go down there and if you tucked yourself in the corner I think you'll be fine there. As I said never seen barriers down there but you never know.

Do you need to be in the Moho? Travelodge at Haydock, which is not far away, 24th 25th £60.98.
