We hope to be leaving for a few months in Europe in early November.
Would an ASCI card be any use so late in the year and worth buying for only two months left?
We normally use searchforsites and always find somewhere to stay, but we have never been to Europe in winter.
Any info most grateful.

Depends on which part of Europe....how many campsite you intend using....of course here in Spain many campsites remain open all year, and are well attended by winter long stay visitors from Northern Europe and some UK visitors too...
Look at ACSI web site and decide if there are sites you might use on your planned route..
ACSI is a low season discount scheme, which is when you propose travelling...so it's perhaps a good back up....

I've been a bit disappointed with ACSI this year traveling in France, Italy, Croatia.
Came across a number of sites that are ACSI inspected but don't offer discount.
All wanted the acsi maximum 22 often with tourist tax on top and ACSI pitches nearly always at the less desirable end of the campsite.
Probably useful in Spain, but otherwise I don't think I'll bother next year.
In France I've found the CCP network excellent and very good value compared to campsites.

Depends on what you want. We have saved around £5 per night using Acsi to stay on full facility sites with swimming pools etc, only one of which (at Argeles) was the top 22euro rate. So you can quickly save the cost of the card.
Now in the middle of 30 days at el Puerto near Cadiz which with Acsi would be 22 euro but the long stay campsite rate works out at 15euros including electricity.
Moving on in a week or so to Turiscampo near Lagos in Pt which is no longer in the discount scheme, 28 euro per night but a fab site with indoor and outdoor pools, and near a golf course!
All in all we will have been away for 9 weeks and spent an average of 16 euros per night on some very nice campsites!

What we have found this year is that everywhere is very busy and there are a lot of French vans around, more so than Dutch or German.

We are currently using one as we tour France, and I’m disappointed with some of the pitches we’ve been given -definitely the worst in the site on some. Not sure I’d bother again next year.
I found the same situation on some French sites. They use it to sell unpopular pitches. I complained to the receptionist at one site, did they care ? Not a bit even though Better pitches were available.

Many thanks Everyone. We are headed to Greece, but very flexible on the route there! Just trying to cover all bases. I might get in touch with Vicarious Books and see if any cards available for what's left of this year, and for next.
Cheers

We have just returned from a month in France and Northern Spain using mostly ACSI sites. Can't say we noticed being given bad pitches - the majority of sites let us choose our own. However, nearly all the French sites have limited facilities once you get beyond the first week of September, usually no cafe/restaurant open and most swimming pools shut after 15/09.

In Spain, found the ACSI inspected position confusing - some say full rate, some ACSI rate - it needs sorting!

We used our ACSI card for a month in June in France and saved a fortune, we chose our pitch every time.

I lost my card in Italy and stayed at a couple of sites on the way back up through France, showed them both books plus map and they took my word for it. Admittedly it was end of September by then. New book on order from Vicarious books. Wouldn’t be without it.
Nor my new CCP card! Thankyou Celine from CCP.

If it says ACSI inspected only then you won’t get the discount, it will have the card sign on display in reception and will be in the book or on the app if you get the discount.

I've been very impressed with the CCP card sites and system.
10-13 ish GBP for 24 hours, no campsite booking in nonsence, passports, closed reception, grumpy receptionist, queues and having to be off by 1100.
At the CCP sites, you can arrive mid afternoon, get sorted and explore the area in the morning if you wish. The app gives you the time you need to be off by without incurring another days charge.
All sites have been in good locations, immaculate clean and all services working, even half decent free wifi.
I would have done more free aires but fridge not working on gas, so CCP has been very welcome and I'll definitely use them next year.

I agree with your comments. CCP much better value.

There are two ACSI apps, one lists all the sites that they have inspected and presumably met some quality threshold. The CC app lists those that are in the discount scheme. These are the ones that are in the books. You need to have bought the books to access the code that unlocks the features of the CC app

The above is a network of Campsites...inspected and promoted by ACSI.

Below is a Camping card discount scheme the works separately within the ACSI network.

Of course the discount scheme provides low cost overnighting on sites during the low season....where this site's normally charge full price out of these times...

Horses for courses, we use Acsi a lot but we use campsite facilities, and dislike wild camping or aires. We are wierd in that we like to base ourselves somewhere for a few days/weeks sit outside chilling out reading our books, people watch and visit places by walking, cycling or public transport. This weekend we were out and about and did close to 30000 steps on Saturday, but spent Sunday sat outside and listened to the F1, England Australia T20 cricket and two football matches!
We have, so far this trip, spent 22 nights on Acsi discount sites, all with swimming pools and immaculate facilities, good pitches etc. I know a lot on here don’t want these type of sites, but it absolutely suits us. So far averaged 15euros per night.
La Flèche, St Germain les Belles, Argeles, Herrodada, Los Pinos Peniscola.
Currently at El Puerto de Santa Maria for 30 nights where the long term rate is 15 euros, Acsi 22 euros and standard rate 26 euros including electricity. Moving next week to Turiscampo, Lagos Pt. Which is 28 euros 😱 but it has indoor pool and is near golf courses😀

CCP may be a bit cheaper than ACSI but, if you are like philann and like to sit out and possibly eat with that chap Alf Resco, a "proper site" can give a more chilled feel. I usually mix and match. Aires are OK for a couple of days but a site for a longer stay.
Alf Resco must be much travelled...we ate with him last week here in Spain....😃😃👍🇪🇦

Yebbut, was that your experience (i.e. all services working) in winter months? (Which is when the OP is asking about).
