Having now completed our 90 days in Europe for this year i am now starting to plan for next year in France and this where your help and guidance is importent.
My wife has had Parkinsons for about 10 years and her mobility has been gradually reduced to about 700mtrs maximum walking distance one way.
When reviewing Campsites most comments on distances refer to either Not far,Close by,10 minute walking distance,Easy walk.
No doubt all done in good faith.
However what i am asking for is CAMPING SITES locations that have Towns, Villages,Restaurants,Beeches and other facilitys to be within 700mtrs.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Zooming in on GoogleMaps may give you a decent idea of how close you are to town centre, amenities, pubs, cafes etc.
Yeah Google maps is your best friend in this.
But I am sure if you ask on here about places you might be thinking about, someone will know.

Camping Beaulieu (now owned by Huttopia) is a lovely campsite on a small island in the dordogne. The campsite is just over a small bridge from the lovely medieval village which has enchanted us for nearly 30 years. There are many restaurants, a church with a 12th century tympanum and excellent facilities all easily within 700 metres.

We have an elderly dog so limit walks to an hour. I find the ordinance survey app invaluable as you can check area as you would with google maps but create the route by clicking along the intended path. It will then give you distance, walking time and elevation changes. It works in France as we used it there earlier this year. There may be free mapping apps which do the same.

I often think having a towed/ trailered car is a waste of time ( we haven't got one) and can't understand why people bother but in your case it could be a really good idea. It would mean you have a much wider choice of sites and areas to visit without worrying about your wife's mobility.

Thanks for that Lenny and yes you are right to say that Aires are close to Towns and Villages and we have used them in the past and will continually to use them however the post was about Campsites where we usually spend 7 to 10 days

I feel for you both Marshall Blair, My wife TinaL has had Parkinson's also for about 9/10 years. Much improved after she was brave enough to have the DBS (deep brain stimulation) fitted about 3 years ago.
She cannot walk any distance now due mainly to stiffness and lower back pain, and she tends to shuffle walk depending on how long ago she took her meds (Madopar in 4 hour intervals).
Yesterday we bought a 4 wheel walking frame, with brakes and larger wheels, it also has a seat with storage under it. She is chuffed to bits with it, infact she has just gone out the door as we speak, with her own goal of reaching the end of the road & back, that's about 1000 yards.
If she makes it back OK then that's not bad performance for her second only walk with it.
I better go and check on her, but taking great interest in the recommendations from others, thus far.
Thanks everyone.(y)

If you are going out of season then Huttopia do their own scheme like ACSI. It does cost €19 to join but you can join at the campsite and then if you stay 9 nights on any Huttopia site you get one free. Unlike ACSI the year rolls from the date you join. The renewal is cheaper. The website is in English and very user friendly. They have quite a few sites near towns and even cities.

Site at Langres that is within the towns walls and town centre. Few hundred metres at lost to lots of shops and restaurants. Was there last week 17.5 euros for the night with electric.

Camping Le Garanel in Sommiers is worth a few nights. Lovely historic town to look around, the site is basic but has everything you need, clean toilets , showers, EHU, waste emptying point etc.
The site is virtually in the middle of the town, follow signs for the the camping municipal.

There are a couple of sites on L'isl de Re that are right on the beach, 20 yards away in fact ! Sorry can't remember the names but will try to find them! There is also a site there that has its own dedicated bathroom attached to the pitch.

Another one for your list is Blere on the Cher in the Loire area.

The municipal campsite is near enough in the town/village itself.

Providing you are not abiding the 90 day rule. Spain are kind of turning a blind eye to the 90/180 day.

I wouldn’t want to get too close.

But in a recent off the record chat with a lawyer and a guardia civil officer. Spain want tourism .

I, until last week, always check my passport date stamp. On the way out, my wife noticed on the way in. My passport was stamped 1 day earlier than hers . The electric gates were not in operation in our out of Spain.

So when we exited Spain for a stamp, I handed my passport to the officer at the stamp page.

Whilst Pedro and Jose were chatting away, Pedro did not even make eye contact with me or look at my photo.

I handed my passport back and tapped the date and pointed out the entrance error , in Spanish.

In English he replied, you don’t need to worry, and ended with no pasa nada. As I’m not yet close with Schengen days. I just could not be bothered arguing.

I guess she the EES/ESITAS Systems, some things will change. For better or worse.

Lots of stories like this a couple of years ago saying that the Spanish would find a way around the rules they're desperate for our custom etc but there doesn't seem any evidence of that apart from the very odd anecdote. I think we're stuck with it. They certainly seem to tightening up on the brits that used to live there long term off the radar from what I've heard.

Yes, the other thing I would say is this. The airplanes and ferries are full of tourists desperate to get back to spain. As this is the case and bookings are up, the Spanish Authorities will not be too concerned.

As we have a house and a business in Spain, we are visiting as much as we can. That in-turn limits our stays in other Schengen countries.

If we did not have the aforementioned reasons to visit Spain, there would be plenty of other options for holidays. Still are but we work and have family commitments .
