You could very well be right given the wing shape.I think it was a Cormorant, or possibly a Shag, but whatever it was, it was too fast for me ?
Spent a couple of evenings in the Tayvallich Inn last summer, eating, drinking and making merry at the mid-west kayak symposium. Not so fond memories of paddling the next day with a sore heed ! ?......Not the cheapest of places, it's a while since been there, but the seafood in the pub in Tayvallich is good. The beer wasn't too bad either.
You’re welcome. Site mode C&MC Traigh Farm CL, nr. Arisaig, no leccy but lovely views. Just moved down to Kinlochleven for a night. Are you on a campsite or in FLT mode ?
Those kayak high lift racks look really good, thanks for the link
The first bird is a juvenile gannet, it would have hatched last year I think. They don't look like adults until the third year. Second year birds have more white on them than the one in your photos, from what I can tell, which is why I think it's a first year bird. You could very well be right given the wing shape.
Not the best of photos as taken with big zoom and no tripod with me! Both times!

Not the best of weather for you on Thursday. And given the direction it'll probably be howling up the loch!

Unfortunately, we chose to park at Carsaig overnight and it was blowing a hoolie all night. Had to pop over to Tayvallich today, just to get a signal. You’ll be fine and sheltered in Tayvallich - if you get a nice frosty calm day a paddle to the Fairy Isles is well worth it if you haven’t been before.
Gorgeous photos!A tiny bit, but it’s not lying this low down.
