Thanks to President Bonaparte Micron we cannot drive down to Spain as usual in January.
Having taken our mh to Rimini some years ago in late September, we had difficulties finding open campsites.
Are there any areas similar to the Spanish med coast campsites open in January?
What's the weather like there at that time of year?
Any suggestions for 3 week stays on the coast?
Any ideas welcome, we cannot miss our winter sun!

Assuming you are in the UK how will you get to Italy?

Have you considered the ferries direct to Spain..... unfortunately they are French owned, but, am sure Micron will b e happy to accept British cash......no point in biting off your nose to spite your face

Yep, checked and all sold out until mid January plus my wife's allergic to the Bay of Biscay.

All information you require is on searchforsites. It costs £6 for a year and is worth its weight in gold, especially when abroad.

Yes thanks Phil, I've been using it for years. And Campercontact, ACSI etc etc......

We love lido de jessolo , plenty camp sites right on the sea, and easy bus service right to the centre of Venice.
Miles of benidorm type places, can't help on the weather though never been this time of year.

Well if you are right you can drive down to Spain then as you would be coming from an EU country?
Yes looks feasible but at some point you have to enter France to get to Spain (and possibly get stopped by les flic 👮‍♀️🚨) unless you take the Genoa/Barcelona ferry, 22 hours! 😷

Well if you went to see your sister then went through from Germany if stopped just say you came from Germany (not lying) but I doubt very much if they would be interested in stopping you at all.

Absolutely freezing this time of year. Nothing like Spain at all.

We drove down to Sicily a few years ago in the Spring-France open as expected, crossed the border into Italy and they were still asleep, beaches still dirty, campsites closed-this was in 2014 so it may be different now-but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

It's the open season for wild Haggis shooting. (Wild? They're bloody furious!!!)
You need a licence…….Haggis are protected unless it’s a Thursday, raining and you catch one going through your rubbish. 🤷‍♂️ ;)
