Lots of camp sites are stipulating no gazebos, anyone had a probem with a screenhouse ? Not the large ones as some places don't have the space, just the 2.4 x 2.4 metres.

Not for me! 😇

My answer had a caveat… we don’t really stay on sites where there would be these kind of rules.. rallies and continental touring for us!

We have been refused a pop up. South West Wales as an example where winds can be high. I believe Highlands End as well when we have rallied there.

I think they stipulate 'no gazebos' because of limited space and or the risk of them blowing away and causing injury to other people, or damage to their vans.

is a screen house not just a gazebo with side walls .. ?

I would think if gazebos are not allowed the rule would also apply to screen houses ..

to be certain, ask when booking

Thank you all for your views on Screenhouses ! We thought it would be prudent to check first with site managers anyway, however lots of sites so far just say "no gazebos" one even wants £30 if you take one ! Fully understand the damage risk if high winds about, however these Quest Pro 4 types are well pegged down and are similar to a tent. Have done years of Kampa awnings, inflatable and poled, Fiamma wind out with privacy room (never again!) all are so much faff and energy to put up, drive away are also a no no, tried them with our first ever motorhome. Think we will settle for putting the Fiamma wind out up for daytime, but just wanted somewhere to sit other than in the motorhome that had a bit of shelter. Couple of nights is not a problem, but longer stay is what we were looking at. Guess it's a case of vote with your feet (or wheels) if refused !

Thanks, would take it down anyway if winds developed like that !
That’s what we would do but if you happened to be offsite at the time ? Also, I remember the Morris Leisure site at Ludlow insisted that any awning had to be attached to the vehicle.

Have never had a problem, and when away with the grandkids, have a blow up awning attached to the motorhome plus the quest, so long as all are within the marked pitch neither of the 2 big clubs have bothered.
We take the quest when going abroad.

Considered a screenhouse but too much faffing around for us, we just wind out the awning and if staying somewhere for a few days put out a little 3 panel windbreak, never had problems with that but only use CL's in UK....

The Quest Screen House 4 https://miriadquest.com/quest-screen-house-4-pro-3087246 is probably the most popular option on most Fun rallies. For Highlands End https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...highlands-end-campsite-september-2024.288262/ & Norden Farm https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...ite-meet-9-16-may-corfe-castle-dorset.284229/ campsite meets they are allowed if well pegged at all points but being right on the coast Highlands do request that these & all awnings are taken in /down if winds do get too high. We always check with the rally marshals or campsite owners before booking & campsites usually stipulate that as well as being well pegged that a Screen House is used instead of, but not in addition to, an attached or enclosed wind out awning due to space & pricing of pitches.

I was told on a CCC site that as long as the Quest popup was attached/fastened to the motorhome, no problem.

I have always asked first, but been careful to avoid the term "gazebo" because some clubs specifically prohibit them. refer to it as a "shelter" instead. I think the rule is due to poorly anchored gazebos having blown away and damaged other vans on their journey. I've always attached a strap from mine to the vehicle, just in case.
