As I failed to defer to the driver of an ancient Hymer asserting his right to drive to drive well-over the centre line, I need a RH mirror for the Ducato. :-( ('16 PVC so short arm).
Whilst having a mirror guard means I've still got all the bits, the hinge area is snapped.

Complete replacements from ebay (<£50) look too cheap to be real... Has anyone got any experience?
Are the slightly more expensive (c£90) ones any better, or just the others in a fancier box?
Are there any traps fitting them? -I know about the temp sensor, and have read on here about getting the bulb wattage right.

Theres nothing wrong with eBay as such, it’s only a selling site and many reputable companies sell through eBay.
I’ve bought loads of stuff off eBay but always check the percentage and feedback, if possible I check where they are and find the website.
A good example is Opie oils, I get oil or filters from them and they are always cheaper through eBay than going to their website.
Regarding the mirror, I used The Mirror Man a few years ago when I had a similar problem, replacement isn’t that straightforward though, there’s three lengths, electric, heated or not, temperature sensor.

I totally agree, ebay can be a quick way to get top notch stuff. I also get my oil there, from "proper" oil companies.
One interesting one was rear lamp cluster for the old Transporter, where the part that came was branded as a Turkish OEM supplier, though the part was possibly a second. I was happy to spend 10 mins trimming moulding flash from the back for the saving, quite adequate for a 220k mile van.

We had a similar accident with our RH mirror and ordered one from Ebay, it was absolutely fine just double check the size and if you require a heated one.

Bought both my replacement mirrors for my 2007 ducato from eBay with no problems about £60 each 👍😁

Thanks all, just the confirmation I was hoping for! (and from a couple of van youtubers I've watched since!).

As above. Concerning my purchase, they were not as good quality as orginal, but at a significant saving, looks OK and I can see behind again.

I have justr replaced my RH mirror - Courtesy of a van driver in the UK....Amazon.de purchase, 105 Euro delivered, fitted in less than an hour, quality seems the same as the original fitment......2023 Ducato.......It was the long arm version, all singing and dancing, the short arm would have been 30 Euros less....

My van was fitted with an eBay knock off mirror. The mirror glass was broken by a builder's truck, but unfortunately I could not find a replacement glass to fit. On closer inspection the mirror body was dark grey plastic, which did not match the original black plastic mirror, Also the innards were adapted from another make of van, i.e. non original. The only option I have is to replace the whole unit with a new unit. I am reluctant to buy it from eBay, because you cannot be sure of its provenance.

I purchased one about 4 years ago, when I fitted it it looked identical but over time black plastic has faded also the indicator lens has gone a yellow colour due to the sun where the original N/S one still looks like new. Not as good as original, but you get what you pay for and I can see behind.

I bought one last year after a builders truck removed the outside drivers mirror in Kent. Swmbo was driving, I was in the 2 CV a little bit ahead. The truck was coming fast in the opposite direction and over the white line - almost took me out in the car, swmbo did really well to just lose a mirror. Needless to say they didn’t stop.

Anyway, I bought a replacement mirror from Van Wing Mirrors and it cost about £90 delivered. Came with temperature sensor etc and superficially looked fine.

It doesn’t feel the same as the original mirror when you touch it (to fold it in for example) and doesn’t quite look the same finish but you have to be looking to notice. Oddly the glass seems to rattle/move a bit if it’s windy but you can still see perfectly well.

I guess you get what you pay for, overall I’m happy with it and certainly prefer the outcome than having to spend another £200+ to get the Peugeot mirror.

Fitting was fairly easy, video link as to how I did it is here if you want.

Its always worth a check to compare ebay and direct site prices. A petrol strimmer, although not a lot, was £15 cheaper direct on the companies site.

Good to know, however I'll be happy as the indicator lens survived un-scathed, protected by the mirrorguard: which I'll be refitting to cover the black plastic.:giggle:
