There are a few little camp sites on the coast to the north of Ardrossan.
Also check that your ferry is actually sailing from Ardrossan, we were recently moved to Troon twice at short notice. Troon is actually better to sail from, but sadly we don't get the choice.
Arran is stunningly beautiful, but the roads are shockingly bad, I've lived within sight of the island for most of my life & always been a regular visitor & never seen the roads in this state. One upside is that the breathtaking scenery makes sure that you are driving slowly anyway.
Anyway, enough negativity, enjoy the island & your holiday. Robert.

I'm Ayr born & bred, but the Aire in the Blackburn carpark is a proper pain, little Johnny in his 1.0 Corsa with go faster stripes & Jumbo jet exhaust will keep you awake til silly time. Sad but true.
