If you're going to be travelling between Alicante and Tarragona during the Easter period, be aware that between 28th March and 2nd April the UGT Union has called on its members employed by the motorway management Company Aumar who operate /maintain the toll booths throughout that whole stretch of the AP7 motorway to strike for a series of short-term 3 hour periods.
At first glance this might not seem a big issue, as the toll booths are nowadays automatic and the barriers rise once you've paid at the machine....... BUT ONLY until there's a problem at that booth. ...... then an employee has to come over and open it/fix it.
No employee means no fix, which means that booth barrier stays down.
Depending upon how many employees join these strikes over the Easter long weekend (always one of the heaviest times of the year for traffic on this motorway) this could well cause absolute chaos.
Perhaps worth keeping an eye on the Spanish news in the coming days, and possibly either not travelling during that period or looking for an alternative route.
