Suggestions please. Would need to be within cycling distance or public transport. Or maybe motorhome driving distance if we could gain access to our parking spot again after 11.30pm.

We always stay way out of town and get the train in. Usually New Mills or Hayfield as it’s on the main line.

PS: you may need a boat😱

Here (if you're a member) Railway station 400m away. Direct to Piccadilly station.

Avoid Elmbeds at Poynton. The site is well placed but access is awful and last time we were there the site was very run down. Might have improved since.

A pity as it's a great location with cycle track (old railway line) and canal walks plus not far from the shops in Poynton and Marple.

Burrs Country Park would get my vote and has a station on the East Lancs Heritage Railway :)

Try the Hinds Head pub car park , SK4 2RB. Not used it as we live locally but been to pub, the car park is large and at the rear. Search for Site reviews are good and the bus stop to the city centre is close.

I found this spot last year when I took my grandson to look at the university. We only went for the day and parked the car, the car park is owned / run by the clothes company on the corner. I went inside to pay as no one was on duty. Asked if we could ever bring a 8mtr motorhome and stay overnight, told no issues as long as parking paid and there was no big event on.. might be worth contacting, be aware it's very central.. ie Strange ways over the road 😁👍

I did wonder about Burrs but I will need to leave Manchester after 11pm to get back - will public transport (tram?) get me back at that time?

Burrs Country Park Bury, use the tram to get in

Times of last trams are on Metrolink website, after midnight at weekends. Fair walk from the tram station in Bury to Burrs though but doable. Would feel safer the longer route by road at night rather than the dark footpath.

There is a taxi rank outside Bury Tram and Bus Interchange on Haymarket St.
