I'm interested in a LHD Hymer, first registered in 2006, which has a Fiat 2.8JTD engine and a ZF 4HP-20 automatic gearbox.
I've learnt that the ZF 4HP-20 gearbox was only fitted to a few vehicles and also only to LHD versions. The transmission oil and filter are sealed for life and so, apparently, cannot be changed although the gearbox itself can be repaired.
The Hymer I'm interested in has done 51,000 miles in 17 years. Am I taking a big risk if I buy this vehicle?
Does any other funster have any experience of this gearbox?
