Has anyone taken out the extended Fiat warranty when getting a new van?

If so how much was it? Dealer just said you have to purchase it in the first 14 days.

Wonder if its worthwhile if not extortionate

I wonder how it works in practice? Too often we hear about shoddy service from franchise dealers, long waiting times for work to be done, parts not being available etc. While I’m sure the warranty gives some peace of mind about costs, it provides no protection from those sort of issues. If you can’t use your van because it’s off the road for an eternity what’s the point?

I broke down in France when the alternator needed replacing. Recovered to fiat garage, diagnosed, parts ordered, hooked up to mains, supplied with water, camped in garage compound for 3 days until the repair was sorted.

I think it gives you peace of mind against a major repair such as needing a replacement automatic gearbox which could end up costing you £10k if you don’t have a warranty. On our last van (which we only had for three years) we had problems with the aircon and two alloy wheels had to be replaced in year three. All covered under warranty.

That’s the kind of service I’d like in my hour of need and all credit to them. However, it says more about the breakdown cover which would cost considerably less than extended warranty.

Yep we did £952 and it gives you breakdown cover so with the extra 3 years of breakdown cover it was probably less than £600, I think the breakdown cover as standard is now only one year so even better value.
Has to be taken out within 14 days of registration, if the Fiat dealer knows what they are doing you just need to phone them within 14 days so you get put on the system.
I would recommend ringing Adams Morey Portsmouth branch, as they will get it right.

Pleased with my purchase and other than wear and tear, or consumables and maintenance if it's going wrong it'll show it's head within 2 years. Provided the van is used regularly.

Fiat money spinner me thinks 🤔. However, others may have peace of mind.

My default is to 'self insure' with many things but not having a great deal of confidence in the quality of the product and the risk of new equipment like the automatic gearbox and digital dash, I paid the extra and if I never need to use it, see that as vfm.

My view too, when it comes to washing machines etc, but when a gearbox or something equally expensive could fail I regarded it as a necessary cost, or part of the purchase price if you like, bit like having the Vanbitz alarm and tracker. It might not break down, nobody might steal it, but for 4% of the purchase price I've covered most of the worries.

Whenever I read on Motorhomefun about the latest disasters occurring to Fiats I offer up a thank you that I purchased the extended warranty!
A further bonus is that Fiat Assist covers me in the Middle East part of Turkey, others only cover Europe. Of course that bonus only applies in my circumstances.
Another shout out for Adam’s Morey Portsmouth, of 3 Fiat Professional garages they were the only ones who showed any knowledge.

It's worth it.

Just remember that the 14 days starts from the date of first registration on your V5, not when you pick it up from the dealer.

Was trying to get it, never did.
But after 5 years, the only thing to fail is the AC pipe - maybe £3-400.
And windscreen wipers.
So I think for me overall I did OK not having it but there are some lemons....

(e.g. my 2017 car has same engine 1.0 140ps ecoboost but more highly tuned than my dads 2019 1.0 100ps ecoboost, mine does more mileage, mine has had zero engine issues... I've fixed my dads high pressure fuel pump and o2 sensor (still healing from accessing that b****d connector. No reason why his has been less reliable.... )

Definitely worth it for me. Had 2 or 3 issues covered by warranty that would otherwise have far exceeded the warranty cost. Plus the added piece of mind in case of a substantial failure such as gearbox.

Would certainly do it again if I ever have the opportunity  .

my dealer never told me anything about it ,,when i picked it up it had been registered the week before ,,i found out about it on here, 7 days after picking it up, so 15 days from registration, i tried a few local fiat dealers who were no help and no interest to help ,,adams moray did ,,i explained everything about my circumstances and they agreed to sort it for me ,,i think it a bargain for the piece of mind

We’ve got it on our Consort bought last year. Our dealer did it through their supplier but only because we knew about it from MHF. We are pleased to have it but like all things hope we never need it!

Hoping to go to Turkey again next year so the breakdown cover will be useful ( but hopefully not used!).

Will have to go back to NFU again for insurance I expect.

Yes. We purchased it. Approx £950.
A lot of money but it does include breakdown cover.
I have just tried to find information about extended warranty on the fiat website . Not a lot of Information there to be honest . Has anyone got a link ? Also can you purchase from you motorhome supplier or it it something you have to do with Fiat direct ?

Consort sorted it for us but not many dealers know about it. Many people ask Adams Morey a Fiat Professional, use the main Portsmouth branch, to do it regardless of who they buy from but it must be done within 14 days of the date on your V5C

Well worth taking out on a new Fiat-based MoHo in my opinion. The cost may seem high, but you will not be paying for any breakdown/recovery etc cover for 5 years, including European travel. I have bought this extended “Camper” warranty on two vehicles. So far 🤞, I have only used it once. This was for a rear wheel puncture. The response vehicle was with us 40 minutes after calling Fiat. 20 mins later we were on our way with the wheel changed, the puncture plugged and re-inflated, so that we had a spare should the need arise. Excellent service and peace of mind that support is available when needed,

Adams Morey have a good reputation for being helpful. All Fiat Professional Dealers should be able to organise this extended support. However, be aware that some will attempt to sell you alternative third-party insurance-based cover, as this is usually more profitable for them.

Hello. What does that mean exactly ?

I've got a vehicle being built in Germany (Weinsberg) and it's going to be arriving in the UK at some point once the build is done.

At some point later (couple of months perhaps) the dealer is going to take delivery of the vehicle.

However the dealer are having some work done to the vehicle, so they may sit on it for a few weeks after initial delivery.

Then the dealer might call me to say "It's now ready" having sat on the vehicle for a few weeks.

I am going to be interested in the Fiat Pro Warranty, so I am worried I am going to "miss the boat" if there is only a 14 day grace period to obtain it. Oh well, it's a shame.

In your position, I would have a conversation with the dealer to make sure he was aware of the rules. There is no reason why he cannot undertake the additional work prior to registration with DVLA.

Likewise, you do not have to be in possession of the vehicle to take out the extended warranty. All you have to have is the V5, which will come to you direct from DVLA, usually 5-7 days after the dealer has submitted the application (quicker if he does it online, slower if done by written application).

You register for the extended warranty with your local Fiat Professional garage, not with the dealer, but the FP person will want your V5 document number (and a pdf photocopy) and confirmation that the date of first registration is within 14 days of you taking out the warranty. You can do it (and pay) over the 'phone - make sure you ask for written confirmation of the transaction (an email will do).

It's not a problem, but talk to your dealer. (y)

I presume you are having your new motorhome registered in the UK with you as the first keeper. If so, the dealer does not need to register it with the DVLA until the day you take delivery and have fully paid. The 14 day period runs from this date of first registration.

Hello.
Try to find out if the dealer registers the vehicle online. By the time I got my log book from those clowns in Swansea I had one day to buy Fiat Camperassist. I was stressed about whether it could be done.

I phoned Adams Morey twice that day. I did express I was pushed for time. Ask for a woman called Megan. She sorted everything out for me and explained things. I was super chuffed I got it within the time frame. Money well spent really.

We purchased the extended warranty prior to having received the V5.
The (Fiat) dealer just used the chassis and reg number and we had to send them a copy of the v5 when it arrived a few weeks later.
Exactly the same experience, all arranged in advance once I had the VIN and registration number. Emailed a copy of V5C to Adams Morey when I eventually received it and they uploaded it to the Fiat system so that the start date could be amended. Most dealers have a list of registrations they can allocate in advance and the VIN is fixed before the vehicle leaves the factory, no need for last minute rushing around.
