Hi folks,

I'm traveling to Europe in February/March and visiting France, Spain, and Portugal, I'm confused with motorway tags and looking to subscribe to Ulys. Has anyone used Emovis tag before, recommend or comment on problems encountered with any of these companies? I'm only expecting to "wander" onto a motorway if it's necessary.

Thanks in advance

I’ve never used a tag of any description but cannot understand the lack of feedback from those who have!

Bump!

Ive used emovis and bip and go, no.problems with either.
Easy account access, and drive through the 30 speed limit barriers.
Never used ulys

After consultation with those who do a lot of continental travel on this forum, we went with the Fulli Tag.

It works in France, Spain and Portugal, and you can pay extra and it will work in Italy as well.

Once you have bought the tag (€10 from memory), it only charges you for what you use at the end of the following month, so you sometimes get billed for tolls 8 weeks late.

You simply stick it to your windscreen, and every time you get to a toll booth the device goes beep and the bar lifts.

In Portugal and Spain where they don't have booths but have overhead gantries at every exit the device goes beep as you pass each exit and you get changed another few cents.
(There is no option to pay by cash or card)

Do any of these tag systems tell or show you on your on-line account how much you have been charged for each journey?
That would be the very least I would expect as I wouldn't want to be chewing nails for a month worrying before finding out whether to avoid tolls or not on the return journey.
Hopefully it would confirm which vehicle class you had been charged also....Class 2 hopefully.;)
Thanks.

I use Tolltickets and yes you can just login and see what you have used, distance, where you entered/exited etc plus the class charged.

Be aware that on many occasions a tag will mean a higher class charge unless you stop and explain you’re a camping car. If you want to sail through without stopping then depending upon your vehicle there’s a good chance of a higher class being charged.

Another vote for Fulli although I was very surprised that the battery in mine only lasted 18 months which caught us out on our return journey this year. Hopefully just old stock as our previous Emovis and ATMB lasted 7 years.
We only changed as Fulli cover Italy.

Also a vote for Fulli. Recently changed my tag from the full Nomade + back to just Nomade as we're not planning on going to Italy. All done with efficient customer services. Recommended.

We use Bip and Go. We have the app and the charges come through with each trip fully itemised (including class).

We drive through the 30 lanes and are always charged class 2 but we are in a PVC.

The tag does France, Spain, Portugal, Italy but we’ve only used France so far.

I’m hoping when we have time to explore further we’ll also have time to avoid tolls but who knows?

Fulli Nomade + here as well for our Adria Compact at a few mm below 3m and up plated to 4.25t, ((although outwardly identical to the 3.5t version). Always charged as Classe 2 with French tolls on the account at the end of the month travelled, Spain & Portugal usually the month following, and Italy up to two months after depending on the billing cycle.

I use Fulli Normande+ and yes certainly in France your journey appears in your online account within 24 hours and often immediately.
Italian toll charges take much longer, often the following month.
Not sure about Spain as I didn't use tolls.

We have used Emovis because of its simplicity for paying and it is UK based and you pay in pounds. Have two tags. One for France and the other for Spain and Portugal. Not the cheapest but has rarely let me down. The only time it did was when it wouldn't allow us go through a lane for some reason. Fortunately it was not busy, so I reversed out and went through the other lane and the barrier lifted as it should.

Nowadays almost all the barriers are automatic. Gone are the days of greeting an operator with a bonjour and au revoir!

Very convenient with tags, we can use it through the truck 30kph none stop lanes. And also means Angela does not need to lean out and have to put the credit card or cash in.

It depends on how efficient the billing authority is, not the tag supplier.

In France they seem to be very efficient, the cost appears on the account within 48hrs during the week and a few days later over weekends and holidays.

Spain seems to bill at the end of the month.

Portugal seems to bill at the end of the month, but that is then paid at the end of the following month, so it can be anything between a week and 2 months before the bill arrives on your account.

Italy, from what we hear, (but no experience) is much the same as Portugal.

But as the big expensive tolls are all in France, it's the (efficient) French system that is the most important.
