12 years motorhoming, a lifetime of living
Morning due to a fairy major opp, Im out of commission for some time, I normally used the van all year round, so don't bother draining down, I just put the heating on low when not in use and low temps are forecast.

My problem is Ive never done it before, and I think it may be beyond my physical capabilities ATM , (tibia removed, new jaw made from it plus a fair amount of titanium, shed load of pain and not a very clear head for reasoning)
If anybody lives fairly close to DN4 7BG and would be willing to help, I have a nice wine cellar I can't use ATM so you can have a good pick.

Im thinking of a few weeks time, but before the frosts no rush as Ive only just come out of hospital

Van is a chic cline tag and parked on my drive, has jacks for tilting

Bit far for me, I’m sure they’ll be a taker or two for your offer. (y)

Thanks, Ive got premium motorhomes just 9 miles from me, if all else fails I can ask them to do it, but Id rather learn from somebody helpful than pay through the nose for something simple ish

I know of at least one Funster very close to you Phil, he even has a Carthago at the moment so I am sure he will be along very soon but as you say no rush yet as it's not going to be that cold for a while hopefully ;) and all the best for your recovery.

I’ll do it, no problem
I live in Thorne
I’ll pm you my contact number if required

thanks guys, I'make contacts later as my heads all over the place ATM. I look like Shrek but been beaten with an ugly stick, They were going to take my left tibia, but during the opp, they changed thier minds are scans showed it was bent? so now Im wondering if I will ever get fully mobility back on the right leg used for driving an auto, otherwise my mo ho days might just be over

I hope it doesn’t come to that… but even if the unthinkable happens, there are enterprising people on here than can advise/provide a workable solution into adapting your van to suit your needs. I’ve pm’d you

Sorry to hear of your dilemma scout and hope you feel better soon…

As for driving there are people out there with no arms or legs that drive vans, so adapting whatever you drive for your needs would be relatively easy. If you have one good leg the accelerator can be moved easily for little costs…

I have no legs so I drive all my vehicles with a hand control called a “push pull” hand control, I used to make them myself being an engineer but they must be fitted by an authorised dealer now for insurance.

There are many disabled adaption companies out there and a quick Google for “disabled vehicle adaptions” or disabled hand controls will bring up many in your area…

My controls cost £500-£600 and the company I go to make them specifically for the vehicle and they have it for a day but some companies fit kits by the main manufacturers of adaptions.
They could/can make other adaptions in your motorhome to make things easier too…

So there is no need to consider giving up mate…👍🏼

All the best

all done now, prior to the big freeze

So glad you have it sorted.

Also I hope you are now feeling a lot better and are just as handsome as you were in your 20s (not that we knew you then but I can imagine).

Also thanks to Just smiffy as I may be looking for hand controls. Long story but a fractured ankle that hasn't healed correctly so the foot is at such an angle that I catch accelerator and brake at the same time. I do have a left foot accelerator but found I don't have a lot of fine motor control with my left foot.

Any advice then just ask me, pictures videos of hand controls what ever you need…
I’ll also be up your way near Inverurie/Aberdeen over Christmas…😎

Just reading this thread now and realising it dates from September. Funster thanks to WESTY66 for giving a helping hand and Scout, I hope that you are well on the road to recovery.
Thank you Riverbankannie it was indeed started in sept but Phil Scout wasnt up to getting it done back then, also there was no frost on the horizon. Also I said call me when you’re a little better. However I looked at the weather forecast and it has forecast sub zero for end of week, and realised I hadn’t been over so we sorted it for doing today. So hopefully now he has no worries when the temp drops👍

Fingers crossed you’ll make a full recovery. Try and take it easy for a few weeks.
