I should know as it's at the end of our road,I was more concerned that it might have been left there to see if anything happened!

Perhaps ring the cops to see if it shows as stolen. You never know….

Phone the police and ask if one has been reported missing.
Usually stolen vans get dumped somewhere to see if there is a tracker on board. If not located they are then driven off never to be found.
Can you see if the steering lock is intact/ ignition area etc.
