Anyone have both a MH and a Day Van?

So, the day finally arrived, and we collected it yesterday. No way I was going to wait for lockdown to end, after having to wait for three months back in March to collect our Auto-Trail, which sat at the dealers not being able to access it😡😡
anyway, on first impressions, very pleased, and as a bonus, it just fits in the garage👍 Only problem, now then is which car has to stop outside!

Don't understand. Your avatar says that you have a new 'Commer' but thats a VW.

After converting a few small vans, usually a van bought to use to pick things up in to use converting bigger vans 😉 or simply because it's a clean cheap van for the money. May I say I love driving a smaller van as a every day driver 👍 Usually as economic on fuel etc as a car and a lot handier👍 The only one we converted which proved a tad too small was as VW caddy 😳😃 Even that would have been good if we had fitted a pop top. All the T5s, Traffic, Transits,Vivaro and my own fav Vito proved to be great every day driver vans that would double up for a weekend away.

I have been pondering that as well! It seems such a waste to have a car just for the times you can't use the motorhome. A car is just a car but a small camper can be overnight, day trips as well as a car. We recently looked at PVCs thinking we could sell our motorhome and car but TBH they just seemed too cramped for us. We love our motorhome and could spend months in it. I looked at the Alphards, which seem the same price as a car. Still on the fence not sure what to do.

We've now got a VW California Beach which we love. It's our daily driver and so versatile from a camping trip to ferrying grandchildren to going to the builders merchants. On holiday earlier this year, we used it for a couple of pub car park stop overs, 4 nights on a campsite and then a couple of nights at a city centre Travelodge. That suits us and our style of trips out far better than a much bigger motorhome / car set up and, in our view, is worth the inevitable compromises that we all have to face one way or another.

Are there any parking restrictions at city centre travelodges for campervans?

I am planning on swapping our Leaf for an eNV200 and turning it into a day van. The heater/air con can run for hours from the battery and I think it should be possible to run a 600w kettle from an inverter from the 12V battery which in turn will be charged by the main battery.

I'm looking at replacing my Ford Galaxy with a day van. I have a Burstner i660 as a motorhome, and do use it on occasions for day trips, but with the Galaxy getting a bit old now, need to replace it - but wondering what with. I love the flexibility to carry goods as well as people and appreciate the headroom. Looking as the VW campers of course - and the idea of an eNV200 as a camper excites me but I don't want that work :). Anything else besides the VW I should look at? The micro campers are too small, would need to get 3 people round a table to eat, but don't need 3 beds necessarily.

VW are expensive to buy but always fetch good money back 👍 Anything else is not in the same league come sale time.Renault Traffic and Merc Vito's are better vans to drive etc, but loose money compared to the VW. This in no way takes anything away from the others it just means that VW owner's are a very strange lot 😉

As above, the cult of the VW Camper trumps all others in the small camper/day van market!

Might be worth talking to a local converter to see the cost of converting a eNV200 - it really would depend on your specification. But keeping it simple may not cost as much as you think....

Pardon ignorance, what are we calling a DAY VAN, some have full blown campers on this response

What facilities am I to understand as a “day van”?

That's a whole new thread😁
As I understand it started with the OP asking about a smaller camper (daily use)as well as having a full blown MH hence smaller vans as a every day run around. Obviously you can use most PVCs as daily run around but it progressed to smaller T5 sized vans ...
In answer to your day van bit in my opinion Anything without a loo and shower falls into day van 😉
