As I said above. After trawling through Ebay I came across these batteries and was wondering if anyone has used them and their thoughts on them? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/29423778...d=link&campid=5338547443&toolid=20001&mkevt=1
As I am looking to change the battery on my MH for 2 instead of just the one I came across these. I like the idea of Lithium but I do not like the Lithium price at the moment?

What batteries?

It says calcium technology whatever that is and not Lithium. I guess at £87 worth a punt but not something I would trust.

Personally I would go for a mainstream brand or replace what I have my current agm set are in thier 5th year and seem ok at the moment if I do replace them with another set (£350 ish) it’s still cheaper than lithium and meet my needs and know they will last. The cheap unknown brand may last or may only last 6 months and are they safe !

I have always used these for my van batteries, maybe because they are close by and i can call in , good service and very reasonable prices.

Look ok to me and you can fetch them yourself from Luton so not somewhere in China or India.

I would not touch with a barge pole. The two most important features are not mentioned. 1.Number of cycles at 50% discharge.(D.O.D) and 2. weight! The more lead the better the performance. Also what on earth does 'True A H branded' supposed to mean. A pile of crap IMO.

Further to my last Steve. You may want to consider these. They have the same charging profile as a lead acid battery and will give you thousands of charging cycles and can be safely discharged below 50% D.O.D.

I notice that in the specification the C20 rate is not given only a C100 rate. This means that the 130Ah battery capacity has been measured at a very slow trickle discharge rate taking 100 hours. The higher the discharge rate the smaller the capacity becomes. Not necessarily a deal breaker but worth remembering that when used at more realistic rates of discharge the capacity will be a bit less than 130Ah. Some battery specifications come with a C20 rate as well as C100.

There seems to be a selection of the same battery on eBay with a selection of different stickers.
Only buy batteries from a known reputable manufacturer.
Hankook make a 130ah battery with a high spec

hi i bought two these and are performing good so far ,,not much more than the ones your looking at ,,XL31 Hankook Dual Purpose Leisure Battery 12V 130AH x2 £214 delivered that was about 1 year ago ,,from tanya ,,

Fairly safe to say cheap unbranded leisure batteries are just starter batteries with a different label stuck on. You could properly get away with them if you always used EHU but as you are fitting two I take it you won't be doing that.

Very few genuine leisure batteries Exide make some, and a few good dual purpose ones from Varta, Hankook etc.
If you want to be sure of surviving off grid don't buy cheap batteries.

7 years ago I bought 2 90 ah batteries from that supplier, they looked nothings like the picture as shown when arrived for £75 for the pair. They have lasted well, however when I came to replace them in December the physical size of them is 60 ah, so it's a gamble I don't know what the capacity truly was.
This time I've put in 2 hankook 110 from tayna and very happy with them so far simular price.

A glimpse at their very poor feedback on EBlay should send you galloping away, but it's your wonga!

Similar here inasmuch that I got 4 x Varta LFD 90A SLA Batteries from Tayna, for less than £400, incl delivery. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

If you’re thinking of paying £200 each for a basically LAB (100 amp hr ) then you have got to consider buying lifepo batteries at £370 for 100 amp hr which is all useable against the two x 100 which you can only use 50% of each😳 That would make lifepo 4 £30 cheaper 😉

The way I judge the quality of a lead acid battery is by it's weight. The more lead the better.
Any battery that is sold at a price under market rates and doesn't publish the weight in the specs is likely to be a battery that you will want to return fairly quickly.

I used to go by £1/AH when judging the price of a lead acid batter. This held up for quite a while. I have not looked recently so don't know what the current prices are.

If the battery is a lot cheaper than £1/AH they are likely not being truthful on the capacity.
If the battery is a lot more than £1/AH they are possibly lifting your leg.
These apply to Lead batteries only though.

I personally wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

The above is my opinion.

The sellers eBay feedback looks interesting to say the least.

I thought you had joined the Lithium club Peter 🤣
Yes, but the club fees for that are high, so I wouldn't have done so if I believed the b******t of Ebay cowboys.

I have a pair of these, 130ah each.
They were also in my last van, they work OK for us, a couple of days running a compressor fridge, couple of hours of tv, usual led lighting, charging phones etc.
They're not the best obviously but they work OK for the price.

Anyone running lifePo4’s 105 ah 12v from Fogstar.
I a have been in touch and like everyone else they buy cells from China and weld them up and case them, but 10 year warranty and 4,000 cycles and a straight size replacement for normal lead acids. Battery warming and Bluetooth.
They have a preferred charging rate of 14.4v
which suits the charger in my 500 PSU in the Autotrail .
Want to take 2 lead acid’s out and drop these in.
All comments appreciated.
Mitch

I'm no expert on LifePo4's, in fact it would be fair to say my knowledge id extremely limited but this sounds to me like a real piece of crap. Also, should their not be a BMS with these to ensure everything is looked after with charging etc., etc., and is 4000 cycles a bit short for this type of battery. It may be worth looking at exactly what the warranty actually covers, as my experience of battery warranties is they are also crap ! Not certain my comments appreciated after thatLOL

Well ! Let me be the first to contradict myself. I may be talking crap ! Just had a look at their website and they certainly talk the talk, I dont know if the walk the walk though.

Looks good, and hopefully by the time my current AGM's are toast they'll have the V2 seat base variant on the market, this presumably being the drop in version for under the drivers seat application, [ 190mm High]. If they can shoehorn 150AH into such a battery, even better.
Mike.
