What rates are you getting right now on the High Street ?

Bjp114

We always get ours from saga travel money direct.
Todays exchange rate is 1.105 to the pound free delivery if you order over £300 pound worth.:thumb:

I wish I could work it out, the Euro takes a dive and we go too ???

Anyway, anyone predict where it's going in the next couple of months ?

Oh if only we could work that out Brian, it is a bit like knowing what the next numbers will be for a lottery win :Rofl1::Rofl1:

Seriously though if we did have a Funster who is like the money man adviser on the tv able to work this out , how lucky are we

keeping fingers crossed ... buy now or later that is the question ? (:Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:)

This is the first one we looked at on Moneysupermarket.com

I usually put some on this card, used it in the past, but wouldnt put too much on it now in uncertain times.

However the Halifax Clarity Card is good as they dont charge you for its use (maybe withdrawals)and its usually a competitive exchange rate.

Occasionally trade in the Eurozone - today it has gone up for trading and 1.132 is the market a bit better than yesterday due to the new Greek deal struck yesterday. Suspect the Tourist price is nearer 1.115 now

I've always used the Post Office .. current rate is 1.1

Buy online for a better rate on foreign currency.

* 0% commission1, competitive rates on over 70 foreign currencies.
* order currency or Travellers Cheques online2.
* delivered to your front door or pick up from one of 12,500 local Post Office® branches.
* free delivery for branch collection and orders over £500 for home delivery Monday – Friday.

it's a sobering thought .. a few years ago you only needed £14 to buy a €20 note .. now it's closer to £18

Does anyone use Moneysavingexpert? I do. There is a little application there called Travel Money Maximiser which shows you who is doing the best deal of the day, delivered or collected.

But how does anyone know which way the Euro will go against the Pound?

I've often used Thomson for the Danish Kroner, my local high street shop always beat the Post Office, having said that they show 1.09 on the internet this morning but always worth a try.

This might sound a bit pervy ( !! ) but I often hang around in my bank asking folk if they are cashing in any € ..
The bank offers 1.25ish I offer em 1.19(ish) and hey, everyone ( cept the bank ) is happy :thumb:

BTW, Thomas Cook is currently offering 1.11 agin the post office which is selling at 1.099 ( today )

It doesnt just sound a bit pervy:Rofl1:

Good idea though.

Jims post reminded me I need to get some Euros as I am off next Friday.

Now Greece is sorted the Euro will go up again. Funny how when the euro goes down the pound goes down even more, but it doesn't seem to work the other way round.

I have always got a better rate changing sterling to euros in europe over the last few years earlier this year it was €1.01 over here and i got €1.11 in spain per pound sterling in the banks local to where i was even with paying their commision i still got more than i would of got in the uk

Caxton is €1.11 today

The Caxton FX is selling at €1.11 today

I have a large amount in the safe and hold fire.. I think it will go the other way before long. Europe cannot let Greece / Italy / Spain go down..

But if anyone wants Euros.. let me know and I will have them at Malvern .. cash only...
