Mares tails that stretch out in straight lines suggest high wind speeds in the higher cloud layers and this can mean bad weather approaching. However if the mares tails are bent and feathered then it more likely means there are slack wind speeds in these upper layers and the weather will remain good. The op’s picture looks like it could be the start of a mackerel sky and this would indicate changing wind directions and a likely change of weather approaching.
