Hi
We are first time motorhome travellers. We are taking a month to travel through France and possibly into Spain with our two small cocker spaniels. We have seen a few you tubes saying that motorhome are not widely welcome in the South of France. We had hoped to go south as the weather would be better than Northern France. We would appreciate any advice.
Thanks
Carol & Steve

Hi and welcome.

I've never had an issue or even mildly felt unwelcome. Peak season you may have difficulty finding spaces to stop on aires, but there is usually another within a short distance. I can't speak for Youtube as I don't use it unless really forced. Would much rather read a well written article or manual, but that's just me.

Edit to add. We much prefer the West coast and that gets plenty hot enough especially if south of La Rochelle!

We always get welcomed. Been going 11 years now. There's always one though I suppose 😊

France is the most Motorhome friendly country in Europe they are welcome everywhere.
More difficult to find places to stop on the rivearia and expensive, not the best place for motorhome as most of the beaches are private.
Go inland a few miles and explore Province and you won't be disappointed.
If you want beaches in the south head for the western side towards Spain.

The only bit of France we will not bother with again in our MH is the riviera, very few Aires and they were mostly taken over by long term stayers, most places you might want to park, just to look round, have no motorhome parking signs

But there are sites in these areas, all is not lost, but personally I think that bit of France is over rated and there are many better and more welcoming areas

Hi thanks for your reply. Do you have any recommendations for sites please. Many thanks Carol and Steve.
There are a few nice ones in Millau, lovely town too and you avoid the toll viaduct if you go down into town. We stay at one called 2 rivers and you can walk into town
