Any good airshows ??

The LAA always encourages campers of all shapes and sizes. See 500-1000 aircraft over a weekend.

Light Aircraft Association. Leicester in 2025. Don’t expect heavy metal.

Aren’t all aircraft built from light alloys (composites apart)? 😎

Aluminium, wood/fabric, composite and combinations thereof…

Oshkosh, EAA

Well, you didn’t say it has to be UK :giggle:

It was on my to do list for 30 years then I finally made it last year. Everything from a Paramotor to C5 Galaxy.

Oshkosh is brilliant. 10,000 aircraft. The site is the size of Heathrow and you can walk (or mobility scoot) all over it.

Shuttleworth is a nice spot to visit. We have been a few times to air show events .

Absolutely agree. I went a few times last year, including to the Flying Proms. All were fantastic. The site is in lovely parkland and a very short walk into the airshow. Excellent value for money. The flying was amazing, the museum interesting, and the curved display line makes for some nice photography.

Don't forget Royal International Air Tattoo at Fairford, plenty of camping fields close by.
Again agreed. I've camped a few times now even though I live eight miles away.

There's also the Midlands Air Festival, which is at Ragley Hall. You can camp directly at the venue. It's quite expensive if there's only one of you in your van, but it's a fabulous show and venue.

We did Southport Airshow a few year back, stayed on the CAMC Southport site and walked into town on the Saturday as we had tickets for seats on the pier.
But on the Sunday, we just walked out of the site into the sand dunes opposite with our camping chairs and probably had a better view of the planes, and had our phone on the Web commentary so knew what was happening.

The USA Airforce Museum, Dayton, Ohio.
Awesome, and even better if there is access to the hangar containing many of their past development/experimental aircraft like the Bell X1

Don't bother with the Bournemouth beach front display. If the weather is poor it may get cancelled or get cut back. If the weather is good you are looking south into the sun squinting against the light. Your side of the aircraft will be in shadow so difficult to really enjoy the day. No specific motorhome parking.

Bournemouth Airshow isn't taking place in 2025. There are some 'discussions' going on as to whether it will return in 2026.

We've been to the proms as well yes it's a really good evening especially if the wind drops enough to fly the really old stuff
Last year the wind was too strong for the Edwardians, but I was very happy with the Lancaster flypasts during The Dambusters March. 😀
The pyro Extra did set the grass on fire later though, which resulted in a little extra work for the fire team!

Not quite sure what to do this year as it clashes with the Western Motorhome Show at Malvern, which I also greatly enjoyed last year.

For Camping & Caravanning Club members, Gloucestershire DA are running a THS at Fairford July 14 -22 and say it is an ideal site, adjacent to the runway for the Tattoo.

I totally agree.
Unless you particularly want to visit the static displays & trade stands, there's absolutely no need to pay the entrance.
Every aircraft flies over the campsite... and you can tune into the RIAT radio commentary.
You can't see the runway so obviously miss out on takeoff & landings.
But Saturday ticket is £80
