Anticipation, expectation, trepidation!

Surely not on a Hymer!:giggle:
Second time exiting eurotunnel into France heard a loud bang, Maude looked back and said fridge door had fallen off…I laughed it off but when I pulled over…

We have been going to France for a couple of long holidays for years with MHs both old and new but I never worried about reliability. We have insurance and most things can be fixed. I used to worry about leaving elderly parents but they are no longer with us. Then I worried about leaving the cats at home with people coming in to feed them but both cats have passed on now. So I should be worry free. Oh no ...... we are picking up a new campervan later this month and have booked the ferry for France in September. I am now worrying about adblue, solar panel electrics, LPG availability and all the other modern things attached to the new van. I really should stop reading forums and facebook. Ignorance would be bliss ......probably:eek:

Worries are like PEZ sweets dispensers: As soon as you've removed one another one pops up.

Trepidation disapeared completely today when the Toll Tag worked perfectly after a six month hibernation. We can't tell you how smug we felt at the toll peage just north of Zaragoza. Three lanes were blocked by British cars held up at the ticket points, presumably wrestling with their cards, and we couldn't resist giving a toot as we sailed through!
Currently tucked up in the AS Hoteles on the A7 just SW of Valencia: Benidorm before lunch tomorrow!

We are off again on Sunday, but the last emotion - a pit in the stomach- will plague us as usual,
until we are settled into our journey.
Anyone else feel the same way? We can't be alone!
Nah we are still in the honeymoon stage, should have given up caravan years ago,my proble is getting lynda out of the drivers seat she just loves everything about the motorhome…

Off to Spain soon with Brittany Ferries on the Plymouth - Santander route. The last time we did this route (normally Poole - Cherbourg) the Pont Avon had an engine fire in the Bay of Biscay at 03:00 am. It certainly concentrated the mind when they started handing out the life jackets. There were some very worried people but being brits we managed to make some friends and have a laugh, It took 11hrs to limp in to Brest, shadowed by a giant tug. We had to drive all the way down through France, 3 days rather than the 6 hrs from Santander, to our first stop. A week before our trip home we had a txt from Brit Ferr to say that whilst the engine fire issue had been sorted the rudder was now broken and we would need to go to Roscoff to catch the ferry home. This cut our holiday short by four days as we were quite far down in Spain. Worried, trepidated... nah! just hopeful that the dear old Pont Avon makes it in one piece... both ways. Although I'd be happy to be stuck in Spain

Yes, and then a bit of anchor chain knitting to undo in the morning!

The charterers are the worst because the skipper on the helm does not look where the bow is when he gives order to drop.

When I had a gap next to me i was always at the nearest bar, watching where they dropped and making them take it up again if over my anchor - if i shouted loud enough they often p*ssed off and dropped somewhere else.

For non-sailors, the problem is much worse than somebody walking across your pitch!

It probably fell off under the weight of all the duty free French wine.
If only it had been on the way back…thank the gods for duct tape, that reminds me, the hinge is still held together with that same duct tape
