I recently saw an ad for a gel, I think, that you fill the tyres with so that you don't get punctures. Has anyone used this?

Used it on a previous Motorhome. Don’t think tyre fitters are overly keen however if/when you need the tyres changing!!
PS: my tyres were ‘injected’ at one of the Motorhome shows some years back.

I’ve not heard of infected puncture protection but I have used the stuff (goop is one make) that I squeezed in by removing the valve from its holder. This was on my motorbike a few years ago. As has been mentioned tyre fitters don’t like it. Especially if you forget to tell them it’s there, whoops. I’ve no idea if it worked. I didn’t have a puncture but might not have had one anyway.

I've only used it for m/bike tyres when going off for a two month European camping tour but don't know whether it worked.
You don't 'fill' the tyres but put in a certain quantity from an aerosol can then take the vehicle out for a run to distribute it around the tyre's inner surface. It's supposed to find any puncture and block the hole.
I fit my m/bike tyres and as said, it makes an 'orrible mess. My local fitter won't deal with scooter tyres which have that gloop.
Here's some I used (unsuccessfully) which was specifically for tubed tyres.

Great stuff, got it in all my tyres. Saved me a lot of hassle in France with a puncture in rear tyre. Only works on the flat tyre surface not the side walls.
Had no problems when changing tyres with the fitters, it just wipes off. Product is OKO and installer is Puncturecontrol, nice guy often attends shows.
Don't carry a spare so some piece of mind.

Would it fix that size hole?

Had mine fitted to all 4 brand new tyres at Lincoln show in 2019.
Very smooth ride and holding tyre pressure well.
Nice chap and company.
£140 all in.
Yes, you can buy it cheaper and diy, but if you are like me with 2 left spanner’s, left it to a man who knows what they are doing!
Especially as they have to completely let all the air out, then put it back to , what is on most vans, a high psi (mines 77).
A happy camper 👍

oko tyre sealant is what i have used for years .
when in the Sahara deseert its amazing how many punctures you can get in just one day if using tubeless or tubed tyres .
works a treat in either. also use it in m,bikes etc .
