I'm a newbie and always will be. You never know it all.
Right a couple of days ago I noticed a rather alarming cut in the sidewall of my rear tyre, the problem is I'm in Spain.

The tyres have all been on the m/home since manufactured in 2017 so are past there sell by date and although they have still a good amount of tread I now have no faith in them.

So now I need help and advice, I'm currently on an aire until I can get four new tyres fitted.
I am currently plated 3.500kg but am constantly worried about being overweight, especially when filled with water.

First problem I'm on the light chassis with 15 inch wheels I would at some point like to fit semi air to increase the rear axel weight from 2t to 2.4t.
It would seem that this can't be done without going to 16 inch wheels, or can it?

I would be happy to go to 16 as the little boy in me quite fancies some shiny black alloy rims.😄
The problem is I need to order them here and have them delivered to a local tyre fitter and I am struggling to understand the load rating of the wheels?
The 5x118 size appears to have a load rating of 1.04t or am I not reading it correctly?

Next dilemma, as seem to be the case with an awfull lot of Carthago's I can't find the stuff 3 plate and the two plates I have found appear to at odds

.

Fiat plate shows 3650kg
Alko plate shows 3850kg
But as I have already said, no Cathago plate can I find
Over to you any help advice greatfully accepted because so far this weekend I've spent all my time reading past threads and getting even more confused 😕

Hi Lenny,
So are you saying that by increasing the tyre profile only I would still be able to increase the rear axle weight with semi air using the existing 15 inch steel rims.

Send an enquiry form onto SVTech and they will tell you .
I sent mine in ready for getting an uprate when I get back to UK in April, they had a reply back to me in 3 days.
I have attached the email to give you an idea of the info they give back, obviously this is specific to my van but it will give you an idea.

Cheers Cris 🍻

Hi Lenny,

I have 4090kg on exactly that format. It gives a more generous 2240kg for the back axle. However, loading carefully is still an issue as overloading the back axle is easy, whereas it's almost impossible on the front axle.Tyres are a good starting place and can probably get you to 3700kg with no other changes, but no change to the back axle. What else are you carrying that's tipping the scales? I have 2 x cycles, a scooter 120kg, boats, plural x 3, plus associated kit for the afore mentioned.

Right pic is Van plate. Left pic is Alko MH conversion plate. What does your V5 say?
Hmm,
Not a lot,
it's a white fiat ducato no axel weights no engine number

Yes you can then go to 2240kg on the rear axle.
Do check the load rating of the tyres you buy, you need a load rating of at least 112

These ok ?
It's falken all season van 11 I fitted to mine before coming over to Spain ( 16in wheels) it defo took away some of the rattling I was getting on the front and made the journey better for sure.

Cheers Cris 🍻

We also fitted the 16 inch Falkens to ours just before heading to Morocco and such a better ride, and of course the increased load rating is better as well - would highly recommend these tyres, we had them fitted in Spain as well as we live there and good price for them as well, ordered one day fitted the next

Thanks unfortunately it isn't there. I spent half the day yesterday trying to find it inside all lockers and doors including under floor rear wheel arches.
I'm beginning to think there was never one fitted especially as the V5 has no information as well.
