This one relates to Thetford C220 cassettes. I have a spare cassette but the two vents pictured are different. The one on the right is from the existing cassette and I believe it’s for cassettes with an outside vent, which I don’t have. On the left is the equivalent on the spare cassette which is much wider and prevents the cassette from being inserted without considerable force and risk to wallet from impending damage.
So two questions.
1. Am I right in thinking that if I turn the vent to the empty circle marking then it should just pull out?
2. Any idea why Thetford would supply replacement cassettes with different fittings? I have checked the serial numbers which are identical.

Armed with the knowledge of this forum i can then ask Thetford the same questions

Thanks

Apparently they started putting the new type vent on after 1993 so must be using up old stock, you could try contacting them but they'll probably tell you the serial number is for the cassette! So you can either keep changing them over (could get messy) or buy the right one. You should have an outside vent,it will just go straight down through the floor

You can buy either type of vent valve , no doubt Thetford will tell you current price mine was £14.99 2 years ago.

Thanks for the advice. Cost is now £16/18 range. So not gone up too much. Another motorhome problem solved by chucking money at it.
