Just a question.

"Up to 15% discount" ? I'd have thought it should an across the board discount of a certain percentage ?

Like you determine the cost of a policy for a MH based on where the vehicle is parked, the age and convictions etc of the driver(s), the value of the vehicle etc etc. Then from that final figure you would discount it for people from this forum to attract their business. I can't see how a variable discount would be calculated ?

I’ll give you a shot at giving me a quote in June! Do you offer a good eu wide breakdown policy and also do you cover Croatia?

Do you have a value cap on motorhomes you will cover?

4) And after discussions on two other threads recently: Recovery of the vehicle (say over 3.5t) from the far end of Europe (say Greece) when (one of) the driver(s) becomes unable to drive home.

Do they say 'not our problem'
or
Do they fly out a driver,
or
Do they relay on a chain of recovery vehicles ?

Now on my 3rd year with AIB. Very competitive, less than a £tenner increase on last years premium and that was less than £30 on the previous year when prices were going nuts across the board.

Why would recovery get involved when there was still one capable driver?

Lets say your partner and co-pilot ended up in hospital at the far end of Europe that involved them being air medevacked back to the UK.
(It's daily occurrence, as there a quite a few private jet 'ambulances' just doing inter-european flights)
Not unreasonably you go back in the air ambulance to the UK to be by their side at this time of major distress and upheaval.

How is your motorhome getting home?

You are not seriously going to fly back to the holiday location and then spend a week driving home.
Nor are you going to say "I'll see you at home dear" and spend a week driving back to the UK.

Even if the issue was not a serious long term problem, lets say a broken leg, your partner gets flown home, but they cant even get into the house, go to the loo, cook a meal, wash, etc without a lot of help.
Turning up a week later with the motorhome is not a realistic option.

Therefore this issue of getting a motorhome home, is a massive issue that every one of us should have an solution.
(I made an agreement with my sister several years ago against exactly this eventuality, she can drive my motorhome home, and I can drive hers.)

I understand now, and complicated I am sure as really you are saying "we have dumped the motorhome in a car park and flown home on medical grounds" would recovery repatriate the motorhome? I don't know but interesting scenario that none of us want to be at the sharp end of, we have a friend who was being treated in hospital in Switzerland and wanted to fly home but couldn't get her motorhome home, along with another friend we said we would fly out and bring it back but then she managed some other way so it didn't happen but even that might not be that simple to be fair.

I'd be very surprised if friends as you said did not offer. I think think that friends and family are doing this for each other far more than is recognised.

It took me 24hours to get from Sheffield back to Wales then onto Bristol then Madrid change planes to valencia then the fast train down to the coast.

It's a long time ago now but I think it was in the region of £350 the worse bit was the train station in valencia and getting in the right line for the correct ticket office. Took about 3 attempts before the 3 year old came out full temper tantrum. I'm not moving from here until you give me a train ticket.

Funny now not at the time

Asked AIB for a quote 2 months ago when I was renewing. It was £250 more than I ended up paying with Comfort.

I'm sure they are, but many of us have motorhomes over 3.5t and very few people under the age of 45 have a C1 licence.
(Also the time to take a week of their holiday off to help you out)

(Although the proposed upgrade on weight will sort this situation out)

Two thoughts, if a driver is injured then surely that's a Travel Insurance thing, not Accident insurance. I can't imagine that any proper company would want to 'get into it' on an open forum when everybody's circumstances are personal and individual - especially when it comes to their risk rating 🤷‍♂️

At first glance it would appear they have never answered a question, they just use this forum as a oblique advertising.

They advertise with us and help us all considerably toward printing the yearbook. Like other advertisers, VanBitz, Select Motorhomes, AS Bikes etc that investment gives them the right to post here. (within reason, no one is allowed to spam us)

But judging by their posts, it would seem they just have someone who handles their social media and makes a thank-you post now and again. That said, insurance companies are bound by strict codes of conduct, and offering general advice or answering questions on forums would likely be deemed too risky for them.

I remember writing an article about motorhome insurance a few years ago, and I approached a couple of companies for quotes and input. Both companies needed to see the article in full, and run it by their lawyers to ensure no codes were broken or liability taken on.
