Another restriction story just published by the Evening Gazette (Teesside)

Just pleased we live 20 miles from a channel port.

I just don't understand the negative attitude to Motorhomes in the UK.

Why can't they take a more sensible approach and introduce a 48 or 72 hour stay limit rather than a total ban. I it would stop the long termers taking the piss and probably encourage more visiters to the area.

I would love to visit more of the UK but totally put off with all the restrictions, so I go where we are welcome & I that isn't the UK.

As Jim Royle might say. Trial My arse

So I wonder how the trial is going. Do you think it will lead to fewer complaints about motohomes? And I wonder also if the trial will result in a reduction of serious safety concerns as well

I think you'll find the problem is the impossibility to effectively control it. Here in the Canary Islands, in most free places, there is this restriction in place. But just by looking at some of the vans parked up, you can see not many people take notice or abide by the rule. I cannot imagine the council having a specific 'motorhome police' to check the arrivals and departures, so eventually they'll get tired and prohibit it, as this is the easiest and quickest option.

We often park at sandend near Whitby one of the new banned areas. I think part of the problem in summer is 20+ campers/ motorhomes parked in some cases for quite extended periods in an area where the parking charges are set to encourage short term parking allowing more people to visit during the day.
The ban in my opinion would meet the concerns a lot better if they had a nightime motorhome/ camper parking rate with no return permitted for 12 hours. It's a great spot that people could use to park for the night and move on the next day allowing cars to park during the day the way they have set the rules encorages just the opposite!
Of course some would say it should be unlimited parking day and night for anyone...... dream on!

It's just been published in our local (online) rag today.
No longer having a van I don't keep proactive abreast, just spot things when they arise.
