Getting there!
This is number three in a series of three amazing ladder mods for those you with Hymer PVC pop tops …..

Following on from my outstanding posts on “easy step up to stupidly high transverse rear bed” and “protect your bare feet on the pop-top ladder “ mods, I now present my ........ “easy storage solution for that pop top ladder”.

Full disclosure … this is not my design but the work of Raging Bull on the German Mercedes Sprinter forum.

I have a Hymer Grand Canyon S, the pop-top is supplied a company in German called SCA. They seem to supply pop-tops for a number of PVC converters. Thy all have a similar size access hatch and are usually supplied with the same, two-piece alloy ladder.

The two pieces of ladder are not quite equal in length. One side is about 10cm longer than the other. Because of that it doesn’t quite fit lengthways in the hatch opening for storage when travelling. The plastic clips on the outside of the ladder also prevent the two pieces fitting width-ways into the space.

So …… unbolt the catches, drill out the rivets and re-fit both the grey plastic protrusions on to the shorter side of the ladder. Relocate the plastic catches to the inner side of the ladder and hey presto .. you have a almost equal sized, two sections of ladder that now fit snuggly into access hatch!

Tools required … crosshead screw-driver, 8mm spanner, drill, a few different sized metal bits and a rivet gun.

I’d never owned or used a rivet gun before … quite how I’ve managed to get to this point in my life without I just don’t know, its my new favourite tool!

Thanks Raging Bull - great mod!
