Hi all, together with my wife Grete, we are just about to take delivery of a 1995 Kon Tiki. Very excited and nervous as this is our first motorhome. Since retirement over ten years ago we've been looking after aged parents until very recently.

We are now able to hit the road, short trips to start with to get used to the idea, so any tips would be most welcome!

Thanks, David

KonTiki vans have lovely layout and you should get miles of FUN out of it. It is always an exciting time when you collect a Motorhome. Make sure the dealer gives you a full 'hand over' as there are so many features we at first think we understand, then find we cannot remember what was said. Also check they have given the van a full damp check. Damp being one of the items that can become a problem with any van if not nipped in the bud.
Have a great time exploring your van.

Thanks Rosalan, The dealer is preparing 'Thor' over the next few days, including new M.O.T. (even though it passed in December), habitation and gas checks etc. He also promised a full handover, so thanks for the 'heads up'! There's also a box file to handover, so I'm hoping the manuals will be in there, along with log book, m.o.t. etc.
Incidentally, why does the government continue with 'M.O.T' designation to this day? 'Ministries' changed to 'Departments' back in 1970! ;-)

If you are keeping it 'on your drive' why not spend a night of familiarisation in it prior to your first outing. It may help you realise what you do (or don't) need and how to set it up for living in without being too far from home to do anything about it.

Great idea! Pretty obvious when you think about it, but in the excitement...
