At present I have 2 x 100 amp lead acid leisure batteries
Am I right in thinking that a single 100amp lithium will give the same sort of performance since they can be discharged extremely low without doing any harm
I also have 1500 watt pure sine wave inverter which I want to wire up so would lithium be the answer

Yup pretty much.
they dont like being floated at constant full voltage if not being used, but yes in general around twice as much capacity.
The biggest advantage is they will charge quicker and take pretty much any charge you throw at them.
Inverter, yes,
Having solar with MPPT and a B2B charger also help you get the most out of them

so would I, or 1 x 200ah for weight
the benefit of 2x100ah though is if one cocks up you can fall back on the other
If one cocks up??????
I thought they were supposed to last into the next millennium:(:(

I have read that not all lithiums are equal when it comes to bms.
And there can be conflicts when adding 2 batteries in parallel. This doesn't apply to all brands.
Was this just a bit of uninfomed scaremongering.

things can happen.

Next millenium...Geoff, Ive told you a million times about exgaerrating now cmon ::bigsmile:

Check the C rate of your intended battery. It's not just the re-charge, but significantly the discharge current. A 1500W inverter, at that level, could be pulling over 125A (with a bit more for inefficiencies) at 12V.

This isn't just an issue for lithium, but all batteries.

As you obviously have the space for 2 batteries I would be tempted to stick 2 lithiums in especially as you mention inverter.
Yes I was thinking of buying two
I know its a large outlay but probably worth it
The Scheiber unit can be set to charge lithium batteries so should be fine

cant have too much if you can afford it :)

One big one is better than two small ones. Much easier to balance and a choice of BMS systems. The bluetooth versions generally only want to play by themselves.

If you've got a large inverter, check the maximum discharge rate on your intended battery's BMS. They vary considerably.

However, Lithium is definitely the way to go here, as they maintain high electrical efficiency at high discharge rates. Lead acids waste up to half their power supplying a large inverter at full pelt.

Recently fitted a pair of 100amp lifepo’s from Sterling and am very happy so far - reasonably priced with a 5 year warranty (providing you have a Sterling B2B charger).
