enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
Being able to put the kettle on while parked in a queue for two hours waiting to board the ferry from Dieppe!!

Oui Monsieur, le gas est ferme .....

But we can still put the kettle on, use the microwave, toaster etc !!!!

Sitting in an Aire with a 6 amp supply and being able to switch the kettle on without first switching off the heating / hot water to avoid tripping the breaker.

And now we have a dedicated socket in the kitchen area!!

Connected my inverter to the consumer unit so all the fitted sockets work
i may go down that path eventually. especially if i splash out on a Renogy 3000w inverter that has auto switching facilities. the way i have set everything up, it wouldnt be too difficult to make the changes/alterations needed !

I fitted the 2000w Renogy which works very well

We can't use the kettle and microwave at the same time using our 2000w (4000w peak) inverter, which is why we are considering the Renogy 3000w.

In current van only have 3 Gel batteries but it's enough to run an 800 watt kettle while waiting for the ferry or on the tunnel.
All sockets wired to inverter with auto switchover if on EHU.

Our setup is very much the same as yours Lenny, but with 4 x 90A SLAs for now at least.
Hopefully by the time they are ready for replacement, lithiums may have come down in price.
We too use an 800w kettle, and a low watt toaster.

Cheers,

Jock

Aren't you through the tunnel by the time an 800w kettle boils :whistle2:
Ha Ha Stephen.

We are looking at 5 x minutes for an 800w kettle to boil, and a only few minutes more than that of driving with the B2B functioning, to replace that energy.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

It seems to me that those with different set ups than lithium are still enjoying the benefits of 240v off grid without having to spend the sort of money those of us with 'new' lithium set ups have done. So fair play to them in my opinion ! Who cares if it takes 5 minutes or 10 minutes to boil an electric kettle, the beauty is that it's flick and forget and it clicks when it's ready, wherever and whenever they want! I am envious that I had to spend a lot of money to enjoy what they have been able to for along time !

All depends how much power you need each day and how quickly you can replace it. Lot of folks seem to be using more appliances as their power reserve improves. Just need to watch you don’t get sucked into the merry go round 👍😁

Ah yes Dave, but I have to be careful how much I take out of my batteries, as the charging for lithiums is rapid, compared to SLAs, and even longer for Gels. To be fair, you have the advantage over those of us without lithiums, both in levels of safe usage (without damage), and replenishment. (y)

Jock. :)

think you are allowed to do that if you have a lead battery as well ;)
