Another Free camping spot closed

Yes it was, it was a free camping spot

And thanks for shouting about it

Sorry I was not shouting, it was a direct copy and paste of your post title, which must have been a bit loud in the first place. ;)

There would appear to be a few contradictions as to whether or not it was a spot for camping or not, but at the end of the day if it's the guys land and he does not want you or anybody there then you apologise and move on without arguing the toss, end of.

We have used a few field gateways in the past when it's been late at night, but we check to see that the field is not in crop or has livestock the farmer might want to access early the next day and we always make sure we are away by 7-ish the next morning. Never been asked to move on, but would do immediately if asked without question.

I don’t get this.... there’s signs saying no over night parking yet someone’s aggrieved that they can’t camp overnight there now...?

aren’t we talking about a daytime only parking spot all a long...

Yes! But it would appear M'homes may have parked there and i'm guessing overnight, though never actual stated in the complaint.

We do the same with field gateways and also have had no complaints.

Problem comes when people who do not take the farmer's needs into consideration copy similar parking and then block the farmer when he needs access.

On the subject of camping in parking places, when we visited Dorset in early March (how long go it seems) we were mystified to see on the isle of Portland, signs in two car parks saying you could park motorhomes there for up to 72 hours but not sleep. How on earth does that work??!! Do people knock you up at the dead of night to check you're awake!?

Don’t answer the door....😉

It’s the same on many car parks in North Norfolk. I can think of some rare circumstances where it might be useful but it’s certainly confusing- especially as in Norfolk the “no sleeping” is in the fine print.
