Just had an email from La Granitiere campsite at La Flotte, Ile de Re advising that Marvilla Parks has taken it over. https://www.la-grainetiere.com/en/
What a shame, we've enjoyed motorhome holidays there for many years.
It was a great family owned site developed by Eric and Isobella who always kept pitches for our type of camping.
But now they have retired and sold out to the plastic and wood cabin juggernaut which seems to be claiming more sites every year.
No more camping car pitches just cabins.
Good luck to them, they've earned their retirement.
So long Ile de Re, we'll not be back.

Probably £1k+ a week to hire a cabin against few hundred for a van pitch times that by say 30 or 40 pitches and it’s a no brainier really!!

Probably £1k a week to hire a chalet, sell the motorhome and save bundles, no brainer really.

Well that is what plenty of new owners will be thinking with that big asset on the drive aching to be sold.

That would be like renting a boat and not moving out of the marina. :giggle:

Good point. On that site it's 640 Euros per week in early June (before the schoolkids arrive) for a premium mobile home 29-31 m² with dishwasher and air con etc.
Cheaper for a car on the ferry and a car instead of bikes (easier on the old knees). However...........

Damn, we loved that site and were hoping to spend some time there this summer. Received the same email but didn’t clock that they’ll no longer be doing campingcar pitches.

Yes great site, we've stayed there for at least 15 years. We moved there when a spanish company took over Antioche from a local family and did the same thing although they have retained some camping pitches where they cannot build the cabins. "Boxes, little boxes, little boxes all the same"

A great place to stay. We turned up on spec when we were cycling La Vélodyssée from Spain up towards Roscoff in August 2018, and managed to bag one of the ‘Classic’ mobile homes for 5 nights. Cost IIRC was a smidge over €300 for the two of us, so very reasonable given the facilities and proximity to La Flotte centre.

Marvilla/La Granitiere have opened up camping car pitches for booking on their website. 10A electric but advertised as “no water”.

I wonder if Marvilla have squeezed some extra pitches in leftover spaces between the new cabins, hence the “no water”
