Angles Mort again

We have a set of stickers which I have fitted suction cups all round. That way we can put them on in a French town but take them off before we get to the toll booths. Over 3.5t in town so no problem Mr Plod, and no sign of being over 3.5t when they look to charge truck rates.
also, they look dreadful so come off when not needed.

I have a set of stickers which I got for previous motorhome. Present one is 3500kg GVW so not needed. I suppose if I stuck them on it would look like I was heavier.

My mate said he wouldn't bother and pay a fine. I made the point that if you happened to kill a cyclist by turning across them and you didn't have the correct signage you couldn't expect much mercy or clemency.

However I agree that they are ridiculous, if you can't see a 30' motorhome why would you see a little sticker?

Does any one know if the 90/180 day rule applies in Prison for manslaughter!
Not Sure Eddie but at least if it did we could start knocking off the silly rule makers in France

Well that's a relief, with my schoolboy French I translated "Angles Mort" as "Dead English" I know we don't get on but seemed a bit much.
I was going to ask if she's any relation to Angela Merkel.

I wouldn’t bother, total waste of money. I bought some, forgot about them and drove all the way from Eurotunnel to Beziers and back again, 2000 miles, and they stayed in the driver.s door pocket. Saw very few MoHo’s with them.

Cheers!

Russ

I had some on my van (plated to 4250Kg) but another Brit pointed out that if you have the stickers and go into a built up area past a sign prohibiting 3.5T vehicles then you’re advertising the fact you’re over the limit. He also said that the French / EU countries can no longer access the DVLA information on vehicles - but the V5 document and VIN plate on the vehicle reveals all if you were stopped.
Anyway I had no problem during nearly 3 weeks in France

Have got them in the van, no intention of putting them on unless asked to, van looks like it’s 3.5t at least!

On the peage on the way here the number of British cars without the UK sticker or number plate is huge - at least 50%. Many didn’t even have the old GB on their plates.

I’ve still got the old GB number plates with Euro star, but I did put a UK sticker on the back, which apparently makes it OK.

I think the DVLA thing is urban myth. And all the coppers have to do is look at the plate. Tells what weight it is.

Hot off the press and still smelling faintly of the Queen's Estee Lauder, here is section 8 of the European Union (Future Relationship) Act 2020 -

(automated searching of vehicle registration data), and

(b) Chapter 3 of Annex LAW-1 to that agreement (exchange of vehicle
registration data).

(2) A disclosure under this section does not breach—

(a) any obligation of confidence owed by the Secretary of State, or

(b) any other restriction on the disclosure of data (however imposed).

(3) Nothing in this section authorises the making of a disclosure which
contravenes the data protection legislation (save that the power conferred by
this section is to be taken into account in determining whether any disclosure
contravenes that legislation).

(4) Nothing in this section limits the circumstances in which data may be disclosed
under any other enactment or rule of law.

(5) “Vehicle registration data” has the meaning given by Article LAW.PRUM.6 of
the Trade and Cooperation Agreement (definitions).
