Planning on trip to Spain and France in June.

Thinking of visiting Andorra.

Is it worth it?
What are routes like?
Any site recommendations?

Thanks

Not worth it unless you just want to say you have been like us.

Thanks for responses. Probably not bother as mainly tick box exercise.

The town itself is nothing special but you can get some cheap stuff in the supermarkets on the outskirts, however the scenery is stunning so worth travelling via if you're not too far away for that alone.

19 month year 18000 miles UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Germany, Italy. Campsites and off Grid.
We spent a week there! In the summer - Hiking basically plus a bit of time in the capital. It's OK for walking in summer or skiing in Winter. Don't know about campsites as we were staying in a house. There was a town on the French border that was essentially a duty free shop! It was very busy.

I walked into Andorra in 1985 from Spain after three weeks mountaineering in the high Pyrenees.

The Sound of Music meets the Tottenham Court Road.

Stunning scenery, except the town.
In those days the town was like a Spaghetti Western version of the Tottenham Court Road, big sheds with false fronts to make them look like shops.
They sold fags, booze, perfume and electrical items all duty free, and that was it.

We had no money, so did not buy anything, but still got stopped and searched by French Customs about 10 miles beyond the border!

I doubt it's changed much.

From the French border to the Spanish border not one piece of natural level ground in Andorra.

Turn off your mobile phone as you will get really stung for Google maps data roaming charges.

Petrol (diesel) station every 100 meters.

If you are driving anything interesting you will get stopped at customs coming out of Andorra. They took some convincing that we only purchased a sandwich in the duty free supermarket.

We like Andorra for the hiking... I guess you can see similar views in other parts of the Pyrenees but hiking trails are easy to access and there are some pretty sights.

The sheds are gone.... Near enough. The spaghetti western atmosphere has generally been taken over by shops, shops and more shops. Some still selling cheap tat but more and more selling expensive tat. Alcohol remains cheaper than France and Spain, as is fuel.

We pass through fairly regularly, have our favourite wild spot up in the mountains and the shopping is brill. Last year we stayed on the Aire behind the shopping mall below La Vella town, it was nice and quiet with the bonus of cheap booze in the supermarket. If you are a biker, Motocard is worth visiting for gear.

Went on motorbikes in the summer. With all our gear on the breeze flowing through the town centre was like a blast furnace.šŸ˜±

It is the sort of place it's worth having a look at if it's close to your journey and of course another country to tick off but once you have been there is absolutely no reason to go again.
But if you haven't been it's up to you , if I hadn't been I would want to go just ,as I say to say you have been.
But that's all.

It's now just one big shopping Mall, scenery is ok out of the main centre, cheap fuel if you are driving through.

As long as Iā€™ve been going itā€™s been like that, cheap prices plus itā€™s a tax haven.
