Your finger if you want to flush the toilet?
Button will still work. It’s just the plastic cover that has broken.

I'm sure you can find something to stick on it, think laterally (not latrine-ally!). 
I once wrote in to MMM about putting a little rubber button on our flush so it could be 'felt' for in the dark rather than putting the light on, I did it as a poem entitled something like "No more groping in the dark" and they awarded me the letter of the month prize .. although they did say they weren't really sure why!
