Having previously had vans fitted with the Gaslow system (and got to grips with the quirks of gauges not moving until the cylinder is down to 50%) our latest van came with Alugas 14kg cylinders instead. The gauges on top of the cylinders are marked 2-20 litres, rather than a percentage of tank contents. Anyone know how accurate these might be?

We have Alugas but with old type of gauge, which sounds a bit like your old Gaslow one with regards to accuracy.
Be interested to find out if these new gauges are more accurate.

Best way to see would be to re-fill from empty, stopping at every couple of litres to check.

Update

Now having filled up both bottles on several occasions, pleased to report that the gauges are pretty accurate, certainly to within 1 litre. :)

that's good for a gas gauge from my experience of them..
I just filled an autos 2000 underslung tank today... nominal capacity 44l of lpg at 80% , and the remote gauge was showing empty but everything was still working fine , .. ie boiler , hob , oven , fridge.. etc..
it took just short of 37l before pump cut out , so it looks like I still have a few litres left when I'm showing empty..
