Looking to go across the north of France last week in July and first week in August to Alsace area
Looking to use ‘France passion’ mainly and a few aires enroute
We are a bit nervous that it may be busy as there are a few festivals mentioned in August
Any tips / advice as to avoid the worst of it and enjoy the best if it ?
Thanks in advance 😊

VIsiting Alsace at the time of the year has obvious "busy" issues purely because the kids are on holiday but it wont be as busy as the west coast and aires and FP sites are very dense so finding a full one you really dont have to go too far to find an alternative.
If I were going and using FPs and Aires I would be forcing the wife to get up and ready to move at 0900 hrs to be in our new place by 1000 hrs when everyone else has moved on creating the space for us to grab.
Generally you ll be ok if youre ready to settle by 1600 hrs.

Keep an eye en route for weekend parties, they are brilliant, especially the little village ones.
2 tactics we have used before, get there on the Friday morning for the Friday night party and if there is no space, park up in a car park and seek out the mayor for permission to stay in the car park or outside his/her house. The second one is only a polite thing and worked both times we tried it.

In answer to my own question……. having now been to the Alsace for a week, at the end of July, we had no problems finding somewhere to camp tended to be there by 1500 hours at the latest and used a mixture of France passion, paid Aries, free aires
enjoyed the vineyards, fabulous villages, great wine.
The area was not too busy. The only issue we really found was finding a restaurant that had space or was open! there was a lot of things that were closed, and the whole area seemed quite quiet
Having spent a week in the area I would recommend it.
we did the Alsace wine trail from north to south, using a map that we found at one of the tourist offices
