Just up on the spit leading to the Martello tower and on the lower road there's about 14 motorhomes, they look like long stayers, guess that road belongs to the yacht club not the council.

That's a coincidence, someone has recently posted a thread about where to stop in Suffolk.

This looks like like the Slaughden Rd 'site' that apparently doesn't allow overnight sleeping.

correct..

The upper road has signs saying no motorhomes but I wonder if the lower road belongs to the yacht club?

Great place to stop over. Some good fishing off the beach there.
Also the best fish and chips just up the road.👍
great fishing yes..

best fish n chips... no.. had them several times and chips and fish batter were both soggy ..

The road is listed as a council car park in the link I posted on the other thread.

Best "Fish" & Chips for me was just up from Kendal Cricket Club within last 6 months. I put fish in "" as I don't do fish, did battered sausage but still counts as Mrs had the fish.
Other than that, Seahouses, forgot the name of the place but I had a whole black pudding battered with chip, lush as ****, only have it once ever year though as I think my arteries would likely go into spasm :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Jim both lower and upper roads are listed as slaughden road, but as these motorhomes are clearly overnighting and there's no signage on the lower road, that's what's make me think it's not council owned.

you maybe correct Ian, but looking at this street view it looks like a Suffolk Council Parking sign

I think that's the parking for the yacht club Jim, it's at the end of the road, none of the motorhomes were parked in there.
Could also be the council haven't got around to banning motorhomes on the lower road yet. ::bigsmile:

I was told by a Suffolk parking enforcement guy in a black Seat car with Suffolk council logo plastered on it that "the section of the lower road from the bottom of the ramp that leads up onto the spit down towards the yacht club carpark is private land belonging to the boat yards. The large piece of land in front of the yacht club belongs to Suffolk council". That probably explains why Suffolk Highways stopped the recent repairs when they got to the ramp.

Totally agree about the fish & chips 👍
The lower road is nothing to do with the Council and according to the traffic warden (when we checked before staying) is okay to park overnight. It's a different story for the upper car park - no overnight parking allowed. As for the Fish and Chips. Blooming awful when we had them last summer.

We're there now parked up on the lower road after the ramp bit. It's not that clear about parking or overnight but can't see anything that says you can't. There's 11 vans here and it's about full. Will be trying the fish and chips later. There's a smoked fish shack further up on the sea front and that stuff looks excellent. Might try that out tomorrow.

Following on from above. Stayed 2 nights no problem, great spot. Fish and Chips from the shop in the middle of the high street, was good. Great walking, we walked up to Sizewell and back. Had smoked fish from the hut which was excellent.
