I recently had problems with the Alde heating in my 2017 Bailey Autograph tripping out the electric when on hook up. At the Moho Show today, discovered that Alde make a load monitor, which you can set at the rating for the campsite supply, and it will then reduce the boiler setting if you are in danger of tripping. It's, around £60 and is allegedly easy to fit.
Seems like a great gizmo - does anyone have experience of it?

On my 2020 Rapido the Alde control gives the option to limit the electric heating to one of 3 levels, 1kW, 2kW, & 3 kW. It's buried in one of the sub menus

I can easily set the heating to 1, 2 or 3 kW. But I still need to work out what else I'm using each time and relate that to the site's supply. The gizmo I'm talking about would remove the need to do that, as it seemingly adjusts the heating power if it is in danger of tripping. And thanks lorger - I'll check that out tomorrow!

Ours gives you the choice of 1/2/3 kw and also has load monitor, if we had the heating at 3kw and put the kettle on this would automatically cut the heating to a safe load, probably 1kw and return once kettle is off.

I fitted the load monitor to ours, it’s easy enough if you are a bit DIY.

I used to have one in the caravan, great bit of kit. You just need to put the main incoming live wire through a ring device that comes with the kit so that it can measure the current draw. If it exceeds what you set, it turns an element off. We never tripped a supply once it was installed.

You can either feed the cable to the consumer unit and take the live out there and put it through, or I did it just behind the inlet for the van as it was easier to get to.

I know you can always turn the Alde down, but it’s so much better to just forget it’s there and use what you like without the supply tripping.

It also tell you the current draw from a menu in the display so you can see what your toaster or kettle draws. :-)
