Was on a site recently where the EHU was metered, so we decided to turn off hot water (via the console where the triangle thingy is empty - as per manual) as we used the sites facilities.

We used up the last of the hot water and just had the heating on. But we still had hot water?

Does the ALDE heating automatically give you hot water as well or have we missed something else on the console?

You can’t have the heating on without hot water on the Alde. As in, the heater won’t heat up when there is no demand for heating, but when the heating kicks in, it will heat the water anyway.

The hot water sits inside the heating glycol chamber.

Alde also reckon it’s more efficient to have the hot water on as it acts like a bulk heat store for the heating.

Only way round it is if you don’t fill the heater with water.

Brilliant thanks. Query sorted.

There was a post recently on why we renewed our Motorhomefun subs. This is why. A very knowledgeable, active and helpful forum.

Im confused, did you turn the whole system off?

Golden Question !

Would you have left it on if it was not metered ?
No, they did say they left the heating on.

If it wasn’t metered I would have left it on. If it was I would go for the cheaper option which depends how much the gas refill costs.

Wouldn’t everyone?

No, we just turned the hot water off via the control panel ( or we thought we did )

"Would we have turned it off if it was not metered" ? Yes, but this was the only site we've been on where the facilities were so close that we didn't use our hot water (washing up being the main use). We do turn the heating right down at night time as well as we don't need to heat the MH when we're in bed.
