A question for all the technical personnel. Whilst we were away the weekend our heating was making a slight gurgling noise, my coolant levels are fine.. on further inspection today I found that the boiler and pump are running but only for a short time and then cuts out. The pipe on top of the pump is warm but the pipe at the bottom is cold. I’ve tried turning the heating up full 30 degrees and pump up to 5 but no difference whatsoever. Do you think I got an air lock in the system? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like an air lock to me, have you tried bleeding it ?

I’ve bleed the radiator at another bleed screw but still no joy .

There are usually bleed points at every high point of the pipework so there will probably be more than two! you'll need to start at the boiler and follow it round. Also make sure the header tank is kept topped up.

I’m always checking Header tank 👍 found 6 bleed screw and tested them all. God they put them in the most awkward positions 😂

I would try the obvious again like unplugging it, making sure you have the correct energy selected on the control panel and that you actually got electric connected, poss fuse somewhere. If it still doesn't work I would need to contact an Alde agent, there are quite a few and surprisingly local too. Best of luck

There is a brass valve with a plastic butterfly inside, could be that. It’s the non return flow valve.

If you look at the control panel you will see a symbol telling you when the pump is running (round arrows) you should see these if it's running OK on gas, do you see the same symbol when on electric ?

Stripped down, removing top and inner black covers checked inline fuse although I guess that’s 12 volt only and tested all ok. traced power to main board and found 240v. Traced 240 volt out of board to first of heating elements and found my fault 👍👍 slight burning on connector. Fitted new connector re crimped and tested all okay. I guess it must have been slightly loose and has been arcing. Done full insulation test and I’m glad to say all fine.
Thanks again everyone 👍

Hi I had similar problem heat was not circulating round van and boile cutting out over temp.
Spoke to engineer from Alde and where the bleed screw and brass bottle are on the rubber bend coming out of boiler you can see an aluminum tube this is a none return valve it has a plastic ball inside he told me to squeeze the rubber pipe a few times this should make the ball move I cannot remember which side you have to squeeze but obviously it’s the side that the water flows I think the pipe comes off top of boiler hope this helps.
